With the rapid change of society, improving adaptation abilities of children has remarkable significance. It is wish of all parents that children grow up to be harmonized persons who adapt well to a school life by raising ego resilience as one of adaptation abilities. Parents' attitude treating children has a great impact on the personality, behavior and emotional characteristic of children and development of children. On the other hand, mother's nurturing, which depends on not only environment and physical factors but also psychological factors and well-being, vary greatly. This study is aimed at helping children develop soundly and desirably at school and providing us with basic materials and information of effective parenting by figuring out the relationship between psychological well-being of mothers who mostly take care of children at home and ego resilience of children.
To achieve the purpose above, this study firstly investigated the differences of psychological well-being of mothers by maternal general characteristics(age, employed/unemployed, household standard of living, educational background) of mothers and secondly explored figures out the relationships between psychological well-being of mothers and ego resilience of children.
The participants in this study were 246 sixth graders and 246 mothers from two different schools in the downtown of Chungju city and one school in Chungwon county.
The results of this study revealed that the higher educational background, in employ and standard of living mothers have, the higher psychological well-being mothers have, and the higher psychological well-being of mothers have, the higher ego resilience their children have. These results lead us to conclude that there are significant relationships between psychological well-being of mothers and ego resilience of children.
It is concluded that nothing is more crucial than boosting psychological well-being of mothers to raise ego resilience of children.
