민화의 이미지를 활용한 텍스타일디자인연구 : 화조도를 중심으로 = (A) Study of Textile Design Using the Image of Korean Traditional Painting : with the Focus the Flowers and Birds

Recently, world financial crisis from America shrink both the economy of the world and the trade of textile. To overcome these hardships, the development of design is necessary. Cheap labor from china prospers Korean textile industries in the seventies. People should forget the period and improve the textile design with international issue instead of fiber manufacturing industry. To develop the better textile design having high added value comparing to even international market, this study expected to find the materials for the design on our own. With having the subject like ‘A Study of Textile Design Using the Image of Korean Traditional painting.’ the study considered the theory related with folk painting, textile design and interior products. Through this work and modern beauty we expect to see the possibility of new interior textile.
Nowadays, the world shows a lot of interest in eastern aesthetic sense. Based on the consuming pattern of modern people, traditional things should add creative and aesthetic value to develop the motive of the modern textile design. Following many expressional methods, various tries are necessary to develop products worthy and deluxe. Therefore, this treatise uses folk painting as the materials to reflect Korean culture. This study may let people know the identity of Korea.
Even though Korean folk paintings have the most fundamental spirit, it is the field that did not have active study in art and design areas yet. Especially, among folk painting, the flowers and birds painting is the most brilliant and decorative. These can apply in modern style. Then, the manufacturing textile design may be polished and luxury. Among the factors the flowers and birds painting have, the image of reorganized motive may suggest modern and sensual textile pattern. Also, based on textile pattern design suggested in the original purpose of folk painting like decorating walls, fabric wallpaper repeatedly popular applies the pattern.
Through documents and many data researched, this treatise studied theoretical background of folk painting and the flower and birds painting. The research and analysis about applied examples of modern textile produced the design. For producing the design efficient, Adobe Photoshop CS and Adobe Illustrator CS were a part of production. A textile design focusing on the flower image is the best design preferred from both male and female due to there are factors brilliant and decorative. The textile design focusing on the image of birds indicates the unity of a married couple. It means that the birds design mainly matches with the bedding for married couples. The textile design focusing on butterfly indicates pleasure, love and prosperity. It matches with the young.
In this study, the indicative meaning of the flowers and birds painting is useful for not only the design of textile, but also various design fields.
In international economic crisis and the van of 21th century, the focus on the development of textile design should be the design of aesthetic functions and symbolic value. The design should even satisfy spiritual value as the design of high added value.
This study expect the motive of the flowers and birds painting to show the factors of the design having unlimited potential of creative interior design with high-added value.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근들어 미국발 세계금융위기로 인해 세계경기 침체와 더불어 섬유교역도 위축 되고 있다. 이러한 어려움을 극복하기 위해서는 디자인의 향상이 시급한 문제이다. 최근들어 중국의 값싼 노동력으로 우리나라 70년대에 호황을 누렸던 섬유산업의 시기에서 벗어나야 한다. 우리는 섬유제작이 아니라 섬유 디자인 제작으로 수준으로 높이고 국제적인 이슈에 맞추어 나아가야 하는 실태이다. 해외 시장에서도 뒤처지지 않을 고부가가치의 디자인 개발을 위해서 본 연구는 우리의 것에서부터 디자인의 소재를 찾아보고자 하였다. “민화의 이미지를 이용한 택스타일디자인연구” 라는 주제를 가지고 민화와 텍스타일디자인, 그리고 인테리어 제품에 관한 이론을 고찰하고 작품제작을 통화여 전통미와 현대적인 미가 절충된 새로운 인테리어의 텍스타일디자인의 표현 가능성을 열어 보이고자 하였다.
최근 세계는 동양적 미적 감각에 많은 관심이 보여지고 있다. 현대 인들의 소비성향 추세에 맞추어 전통적인 것에 창의적이고 심미적 가치를 더한 현대적인 텍스타일디자인 모티브를 개발하고 여러 가지 표현기법을 통해 다양한 시도를 하여 고급스럽고 고부가가치 상품으로의 발전 가능성이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 우리나라의 문화를 반영할 수 있는 민화를 소재로 세계시장에서 한국의 정체성을 알릴 수 있는 가능성 있는 디자인을 연구 하고자 하였다.
민화는 우리나라민족의 가장 근본적인 정신이 담겨 있는 그림임에도 불구하고 아직 까지도 미술이나 특히 디자인 분야에서는 적극적으로 연구가 되어 지지 않은 분야이다. 특히 민화 중에서도 가장 화려하고 장식적인 요소가 많은 화조도 를 현대적으로 응용하여 고급스럽고 세련된 텍스타일 디자인으로 작품 제작을 하고자 하였다. 특히 화조도가 기지고 있는 많은 요소들 중에 모티브의 이미지만을 재구성하여 현대적이고 감각적인 텍스타일 패턴으로 제시하고자 하였다. 또한 제시된 텍스타일 패턴디자인을 토대로 민화 본질의 의도처럼 벽면 장식을 위해 최근 들어 강세를 보이고 있는 페브릭 벽지에 응용하여 보았다.
본 연구는 문헌 및 여러 자료 연구를 통하여 민화의 이론적 배경과 화조도를 이용한 현대 텍스타일 디자인 응용사례의 조사 분석을 토대로 디자인을 제작하였고 효율적인 디자인을 위하여 포토샵 (Adobe Photoshop CS) 과 일러스트 (Adobe Illustratior CS)를 이용하였다.
꽃 이미지를 중심으로 한 텍스타일 디자인에서는 화려하고 장식적이 요소가 많이 포함 되어 있어 남녀노소의 제약 없이 가장 선호하는 디자인이라는 것을 얼 수 있었다. 새 이미지를 중심으로 한 텍스타일 디자인에서는 새의 상징성 대부분이 부부화합을 보여주고 있기 때문에 주로 부부침실에 적합하는 것을 알수 있었고, 나비 이미지를 중심으로 한 텍스타일 디자인에서는 기쁨, 사랑, 부귀영화등의 상징성을 담아내고 있어서 주로 젊은층에게 접합하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
따라서 화조도가 담고 있는 상징적인 의미들은 현대 텍스타일 디자인뿐만 아니라 여러 디자인 분야에서도 유용하게 쓰여질수 있는 요소임을 확인 해 보려고 하였다.
국제 경제적 어려움과 21세기의 첨단화 속에서 텍스타일디자인의 개발 방향은 단순히 심미적 기능의 디자인이 아닌 상징적이고 정신적인 가치까지도 만족 할 수 있는 고부가가치의 디자인이어야 할 것이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서 제작한 제품이 고부가가치의 창의적인 인테리어 텍스타일디자인의 모티브로서 무한한 가치를 지닌 디자인의 요소가 될 수 있는 가능성을 보여 줄 수 있기를 기대한다.
