그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동이 유아의 언어표현력과 과학과정기술에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Invented Cooking Activities on Children's Language Expression and Scientific Process Skill Ability.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 그림책을 활용하여 새로운 요리를 창안하고 직접 요리해보는 활동이 유아의 언어표현력과 과학과정기술에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 위해 설정한 구체적인 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
연구문제 1. 그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동이 유아의 언어표현력에 미치는 영향은 어떠한가?
연구문제 2. 그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동이 유아의 과학과정기술에 미치는 영향은 어떠한가?
본 연구의 대상은 경기도 성남시 중원구에 소재하고 있는 사회 경제적 배경이 유사한 D유치원과 H유치원의 만 5세반 유아 40명이다. 본 연구에서 사용한 언어표현력 검사도구는 정남미(1996)가 개발하여 사용한 VQ쓰기 검사 도구를 바탕으로 이지연(1999)이 수정 제작하여 유아교육 전문가로부터 내용타당도를 검증 받은 도구이다. 과학과정기술 검사도구는 Martin(1994)이 제시한 도구를 기초로 남기원(2001), 이수연(2001)등의 연구에서 유아를 대상으로 연구하기 위해 재구성하고 수정·보완한 도구를 사용하였다. 언어표현력 검사도구와 과학과정기술 검사도구 모두 예비조사 후 별다른 문제점이 발견되지 않아 그대로 사용하였다.
본 실험 실시 이전에 사전검사로 유아의 언어표현력과 과학과정기술을 측정하였고, 실험집단과 통제집단의 동질성을 검증하기 위해 두 집단의 사전검사를 t-test하였다. 본 실험 후에도 수집된 자료를 가지고 그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동에 따른 언어표현력과 과학과정기술의 향상 여부를 알아보기 위하여 두 집단의 사후검사 결과를 t-test하였다.
본 연구에서 나타난 연구 결과는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다.
첫째, 그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동이 유아의 언어표현력에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아 본 연구의 결과 그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동은 유아의 언어표현력을 향상시키는데 효과가 있었으며, 이는 통계적으로도 의미있는 결과였다(t=7.98, p＜.001). 언어표현력의 표현 어휘수, 문장수, 문장길이의 3가지 하위 요인 모두에서 유의한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동이 유아의 과학과정기술에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아 본 연구의 결과, 그림책을 활용한 창안적 요리활동은 유아의 과학과정기술을 향상시키는데 효과가 있었으며, 이는 통계적으로도 의미있는 결과였다(t=12.72, p＜.001). 과학과정기술의 관찰하기, 분류하기, 의사소통하기, 측정하기, 예상하기, 추론하기의 6가지 하위 요인 모두에서 유의한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect that the activities of inventing new food and cooking it in person have on children's language expression and scientific process skill ability. The research questions are as follows:
Research Question 1. What effect do the invented cooking activities have on children's language expression ability?
Research Question 2: What effect do the invented cooking activities have on children's scientific process skill ability?
The subjects of this study are forty 5-year-old children with the same socio-economic background from D kindergarten and H kindergarten in Chunwon-gu, Sungnam located in Kyunggi Province. The language ability test used in this study is originally based on VQ writing test developed by Chung, Na-Mi (1996) and then modified by Lee, Ji-Yeon (1999). The scientific process test used in this study is based on the test modified and reconstructed by Nam, Gi-Won (2001) and Lee, Su-Yeon (2001), who redeveloped it for children based on Martin's test (1994). Both the language ability test and scientific process test were used without any change since any problems were not found in the pilot study.
Before the experiment, the pre t-test was conducted to measure subjects' language ability and scientific process ability and it was proved that the control and the experimental group were homogeneous. After the experimental, in order to examine the effect of invented cooking activities using picture books on children's language ability and scientific process ability, post t-test was conducted.
The results of this study are summarized as follows:
First, this study investigated the effect of invented cooking activities using picture books on children's language ability and the result showed that invented cooking activities using picture books were effective to develop children's language ability and it was statistically significant as well (t=7.98, p< .001). They were proved to be effective in all of their sub-components such as the vocabulary production number, sentence number, and sentence length.
Second, the investigation of the effect of invented cooking activities using picture books on children's scientific process skill showed the result that they were effective to develop that ability and it was also statistically significant (t=12.72, p<.001). With regard of its six sub-components such as observing, classifying, communicating, measuring, anticipating, and inferring, the activities were proved to be significantly effective to develop all of those sub-component skill abilities.
