The purpose of this study was to analyze differences of perception about childcare teachers' roles at Children's House between mothers and teachers depending on parents' demographic variables (age, academic background, job, monthly income, children's gender and rank of birth) and teachers' ones (age, academic background, length of career as childcare and education teacher, length of career as English teacher, license and marital status) and thereby, suggest the ways to provide for quality childcare and education services meeting mothers' needs and help form a closer trustworthy relationship between mothers and childcare teachers to promote pre-schoolers' growth and development.
For this purpose, the following study points were set;
1. What would be the difference of perception about childcare teachers' general traits between mothers and teachers?
2. What would be difference of perception about childcare teachers' roles between mothers and teachers depending on their each demographic variables?
2-1 What would be the difference of perception about childcare teachers' role as vicarious mother between mothers and teachers?
2-2 What would be the difference of perception about childcare teachers' competence of childcare between mothers and teachers?
2-3 What would be the difference of perception about childcare teachers' role for cooperation and relationship with parents between mothers and teachers?
2-4 What would be the difference of perception about childcare teachers' self-development between mothers and teachers?
3. What would be the difference of perception about childcare teachers' roles between mothers and teachers?
3-1 What would be the difference of perception about importance of the sub-factors affecting childcare teachers' roles between mothers and teachers?
3-2 What would be the difference of perception about childcare teachers' roles between mothers and teachers?
In order to measure mothers' and childcare teachers' perception about latter's roles, the researcher modified and complemented the questionnaire used by Kim Kyong-ae (2001) to survey childcare teachers' roles and the questionnaire used by Choi Soo-ah (2005) to measure teachers' and parents' perception about in-company childcare center teachers' roles. The modified and complemented scale consisted of 62 items covering 4 areas.
For this study, the researcher sampled 220 childcare teachers and 260 mothers from national/public children's houses and private childcare centers in Seoul. The data collected were processed for F-test and T-test about difference of perception about childcare teachers' roles between mothers and teachers and for Scheffe test about difference of perception between two groups by area.
The results of this study can be summarized as follows;
First, as a result of analyzing mothers' perception about childcare teachers' roles, it was found that their perception differed depending on their academic background and income level.
Second, the higher academic background a teacher had, she perceived more that they were playing adequate roles for cooperation and relationship with parents. Such a perception was higher in national/public children's house teachers than in private childcare teachers.
Third, childcare teachers' perception about their roles was higher than mothers' perception about childcare teachers' roles.

본 연구의 목적은 어린이집 영아교사의 역할에 대한 어머니와 교사의 인식차이를 부모변인인 연령, 학력, 직업, 가구 월 소득액, 아동성별 및 출생순위와 교사변인인 연령, 학력, 보육교사경력, 영아반 교사경력, 자격, 결혼여부에 따라 각각 조사하고 어머니와 교사의 인식의 차이를 비교 분석하여 어머니의 요구에 맞는 질 높은 보육을 제공하게 됨으로써 어머니와 영아교사간의 신뢰감과 함께 더욱 밀접한 관계를 형성하여 영아의 성장과 발달을 촉진 시키는 데에 있다.
이에 따라 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
1. 어머니와 교사가 생각하는 영아교사의 일반적 특성차이는 어떠한가?
2. 어머니와 교사의 일반적 특성에 따른 영아교사의 역할에 대한 인식 차이는 어떠한가?

본 연구의 측정도구는 김경애(2001)의 보육교사의 역할수행에 관한 인식조사 연구에 사용된 설문지와 최수아(2005)의 직장보육시설 보육교사의 역할수행에 관한 교사 및 학부모의 인식 조사 연구에 사용된 설문지를 영아교사의 역할에 맞도록 수정·보완하여 사용하였다. 이 척도의 하위 영역은 4개영역에서 총 62문항으로 구성되어 있다.
연구대상은 서울시 국공립 어린이집과 민간어린이집의 보육교사 220명과 영아의 어머니 260명을 대상으로 하였다. 자료 분석은 영아교사의 역할에 대한 어머니와 교사의 인식의 차이를 살펴보기 위해 F검증과 t검증을 실시하였고 영역에 따라 유의한 차이가 있는 것은 집단간 차이를 알아보기 위해 Scheffe 검정을 실시하였다.
본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 영아교사의 역할에 대한 어머니의 인식을 살펴본 결과 어머니의 학력과 소득수준에서 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 영아교사의 역할에 대한 교사의 인식은 부모와의 협조 및 관계형성을 위한 역할에서 교사의 학력이 높을수록 높은 인식을 보였으며 국공립보육시설의 교사가 민간보육시설의 교사보다 높은 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 영아교사의 역할에 대한 어머니와 교사 간 인식의 차이에서 교사가 인식하는 영아교사의 역할이 어머니가 인식하는 영아교사의 역할보다 높은 것으로 나타났다.
