The purpose of this research is to verify the differences among participation motives, sport flow, exercise addiction and psychological wellbeing, according to the social demographical characteristics of sports participants. It also aims at examining impacts of participation motives on the sport flow, exercise addiction, and on the psychological well being, as well as impacts of irrational sports flow on the exercise addiction and psychological wellbeing, and impacts of the exercise addiction on the psychological wellbeing. Furthermore, it puts its purpose in verifying the compatibility of a psychological wellbeing model and specifying its casuality.
Instead of a nonprobability sampling, this research used a convenience sampling for the adults who visit a sports centers and sports clubs, locates in Seoul and Gang-won Province.
Inappropriate questionnaires for research materials such as an ommission, unclear entry, double entry, or biased entry were excluded, through which 000 samples were used for final analysis.
For a method for statical treatment, SPSS 14.0 and Amos 7.0 program have been used for the analysis as per research purpose. The statistical analysis used in the research for a data analysis includes frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, one way ANOVA, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and structure equation model analysis. The research has drawn the following conclusions, based on the above mentioned research method and its procedures.
First, Differences were found in participation motives and sports flow, but some differences were found in exercise addiction and psychological wellbeing, according to a social demographical characteristics.
Second, there were some differences discovered in participation motives, sports flow, exercise addiction and psychological wellbeing, according to participations in and items of sports.
Third, participation motives have an effect on an sport flow, exercise addiction, and psychological wellbeing.
Forth, sports flow has not influence on a exercise addiction, and psychological wellbeing.
Fifth, exercise addiction has influence on a psychological wellbeing.
Sixth, the followings have a casual relationship one another : participation motives, sports flow, exercise addiction and psychological wellbeing. In other words, findings showed that participation motives had direct/indirect effects on sport flow, exercise addiction and psychological wellbeing. In particular, sports flow and exercise addiction turned out to be a significant variable to intermediate the relationship between participation motives and psychological wellbeing. The shows a time, accumulative structure as follows, participation motives to sports flow to exercise addiction to psychological wellbeing.
