      The most important purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between parents' occupational type, middle school student's occupational aspiration, and occupational value, as well as between academic achievement levels of the parents, sex of the student, and grade of the student.
      Parents' occupational type means Holland's RIASEC type. Occupational aspiration means the one's occupational alternative that individual chooses within social space at specific point of time. Occupational value means the sense of value or attitude which individual or society has about specific occupation.
      The investigation conducted with a large sample of 585 middle school students of 7~9 grade who live in Seoul. Questionnaire consisted of 54 occupational aspiration questions, 44 occupational value questions, and 13 demography questions. Occupational aspiration questionnaire was based on questionnaire made by Korea Employment Information Service firstly, and supplemented by Bae-Haelyun(2004). Occupational value questionnaire was firstly made by Ahn-Changgyu(1998) and reconstructed by Bae-Haelyun(2004) with examinations on middle school students.
      The investigator established following three hypotheses. First, RIASEC type occupational aspiration of middle school student may have meaning difference according to parents' occupational type, their academic achievement level, sex of student, and grade of student. Second, RIASEC type occupational value of middle school student may have meaning difference according to parents' occupation type, their education academic achievement level, sex of student, and grade of student. Third, the respect degree and the good feeling degree about parents' occupation may have meaning difference according to RIASEC type of parents' occupation.
      The results are:
      First, occupational aspiration of middle school student according to sex and grade made statistically meaning difference, but not according to parents' academic achievement level. Second, statistically meaning difference was shown in RIASEC type occupational value of middle school student according to sex, but not according to parents' occupation type and academic achievement level. However, concerning RIASEC type occupational value of middle school student according to parents' occupation type, statistically meaning difference was shown like as occupational aspiration. Third, there was no meaning difference in the respect degree and the good feeling degree according to RIASEC type of parents' occupation in all cases except according to father's occupation.
