내현적 자기애의 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움, 소극적 대처와 지각된 사회적 지지가 우울에 미치는 영향 : 구조 방정식 모형 검증 = The effects of fear of negative evaluation, passive coping style and perceived social support on depression of covert narcissism : Testing Structural Equation Modeling

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 내현적 자기애 성향이 우울에 미치는 영향에 있어서 내현적 자기애자의 핵심 특징인 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움과, 우울을 매개하는 중대한 변인이자 임상적으로도 함의가 큰 지각된 사회적 지지와 소극적 대처 방식이 어떠한 관계를 통해 나타나는 지 알아보기 위해 이론적 모형을 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다.
이를 위해 대학생 433명(남 154명, 여 289명)을 대상으로 내현적 자기애 척도, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움 척도, 지각된 사회적 지지 척도, 대처 방식 척도, 우울을 측정하는 설문을 실시하였다. 자료는 상관관계 분석과 구조 방정식 모형을 이용하여 모형 적합도를 알아보았다.
연구 결과 가정 했던 모든 경로가 지지되었다.
첫째, 내현적 자기애와 우울은 유의한 정적 상관이 나타났으며, 내현적 자기애는 지각된 사회적 지지와 유의한 부적 상관, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 소극적 대처와 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애는 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움을 거쳐 소극적 대처를 매개로 우울로 가는 경로도 유의하였다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애 성향에서 우울로 가는 직접 경로를 포함한 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움, 소극적 대처, 지각된 사회적 지지의 부분 매개 모형인 가설 모형의 적합도가 우수하게 나타났다.
본 연구의 함의는 실제 치료 장면과 상담 장면에서 활용할 수 있는 기초적인 자료를 제공하는 것으로, 제안된 구조 방정식 모형은 외현적 자기애와 달리 우울과 같은 심리적 부적응을 더욱 많이 호소하는 내현적 자기애자의 심리 치료 프로그램 개발에 도움이 될 것으로 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The objective of this study is to explore the effects of the fear of negative evaluation, passive coping style and perceived social support on depression towards the relationship between covert narcissism and depression. Also, the study intends to compare the complete model with partial mediation one.
To assess this hypothesis, survey data were drawn from anonymous 443 undergraduate students. They were asked to complete the questionnaire about the Covert Narcissism Scale(CNS), the Fear of Negative Evaluation(FNE), Korean Beck Depression Inventory(KBDI), The Way of Coping Checklist(TWCC) and perceived social support scale. The data were analyzed using a correlation method, variance analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling(SEM).
For developing research model, it is assumed that covert narcissism would have effects on depression through being mediated by coping style and perceived social support. The analysis result reveals the validation of the proposed hypothetical model. Results also show that covert narcissism may influence the depression through partially mediated model more than the fully mediated model in terms of　the fitness of data: (1) perceived social support partially mediates the relationship between covert narcissistic personality and depression. (2) the fear of negative evaluation and passive coping style mediates the relationship between covert narcissistic personality and depression.
The implication of this study is to provide the therapist with fundamental data, so that they can practically utilize them upon the clinical or counseling setting.
Finally, the results are discussed in terms of theoretical and clinical implication. The proposed model allows better understanding on the depression of covert narcissist and it can be also implemented to develop useful treatment programs.
