The purpose of this research was to identify the effects of Korean lady professional golfers' goal orientation on self management and their playing performance or capability of winning games in an empirical fashion.
To test this, regular members of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) were set as a population, and among those lady golfers, those who participate in the regular tours have been sampled, using a tour seed. The number of respondents, who played in 3-day-golf game, "The 22nd Taeyoung Cup Korea Women's Open Golf Championship", was 108. Out of 108 copies, 80 copies are selected, excluding 28 copies which are considered not to be responded faithfully.
The survey used in this research included a questionnaire with regard to "Effects of Achievement Goal Orientation of Korean Lady Professional Golfers on Self Management and Their Capability of Winning Game." The results from examination of reliability according to sub variables indicated that there was a comparatively higher internal consistency with Cronbach's α=.6515~8296. The statistical methods used in this research were frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression, etc.
Conclusions drawn from the results of the above research methods and data analyses are as follows:
First, results from analysis of data revealed that only the variable related to the ego orientation had statistically significant influences on the variables relative to mental management and human relations management, which were sub variables of self management.
Second, analysis results indicated that the variable related to task orientation among sub variables of achievement goal orientation had direct impact on the lady golfers' personal playing performance or their capability of winning game.
Third, results from analysis of data revealed that all the sub factors of self management, such as physical management, mental management, training management, and human relations management didn't affect lady golfers' personal playing performance capability of winning game at all.
