The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the test results for the attention between the stroke adults and the normal adults using stroop test, one the sub-test items of Frontal lobe executive function neuropsychological test, and Digit symbol test and Digit span test, sub-test items of Korean-wechsler adult intelligence scale.
The subjects of this study were a total of 100 adults, 50 stroke adults and 50 normal adults at the age of 50's to 70's living in Ulju County.
In this study, SPSS program, descriptive statistics, simple variable analysis, and t-test were used in order to analyze the data.
The results of this study are as follows:
1. According to dots test, words test, interference index test, and digit symbol test appled to evaluate the attention difference between stroke adults and normal adults, normal adults' attention level turned out to be higher than stroke adults' as well as there was a statistically meaningful difference(p< .05).
2. All test including dots test, words test, colors test, quantitative interference test, interference index, error index, digit symbol test, digit span test didn't show difference in the attention depending on normal adult's sex as well as statistically meaningful difference (p> .05).
3. Not only female stroke patients turned out to have higher attention level than male stroke patients in digit symbol test, digit span test but also there was a meaningful difference statistically. However there was no meaningful difference in dots test, words test, colors test, quantitative interference test, interference index, error index(p> .05).
4. Concerning the difference in the level of attention based on the normal adults' age, the tests like dots test, words test, quantitative interference test, error index test, digit symbol test, digit span test indicated that the younger have higher attention. However, interference index test didn't show the meaningful difference(p> .05).
5. In case of difference in attention based on stroke adult age, we found out that the younger stroke adults had the higher level of the attention in dots test, words test, colors test, quantitative interference test, and digit span test, error index, digit symbol test, In addition, there was also a meaningful difference(p< .05). However, interference index didn't show the meaningful difference(p> .05).
6. When it comes to attention difference depending on stroke adult hemiplegia region, left hemiplegia patient showed the higher attention in colors test and error index test was a meaningful difference statistically(p< .05). However, there was no meaningful difference in dots test, words test, quantitative interference test, interference index, digit symbol test, and digit span test(p> .05).
7. When it comes to attention difference depending on stroke adult cause, cerebral infarction patient showed the higher attention in colors test and quantitative interference test as well as there was a meaningful difference statistically(p> .05). However, there was no meaningful difference in dots test, words test, error index, interference index, digit symbol test, and digit span test(p> .05).
8. In case of difference of attention based on stroke adult attack period, there was meaningful difference in words test, interference index ,digit span test(p> .05). However, dots test, color test, quantitative interference test, error index, symbol test didn't show the difference in attention(p> .05).
