The research questions of this study are as follows:
(1) Is their any difference in the childcaring stress based on the variants of mothers (including age, school year, and religion)?
(2) Is their any difference in the childcaring stress based on the variants of children with Brain Lesion(including age and degree of disability)?
(3) Is their any influence in problem-focused coping strategies based on the variants of mothers (including age, school year, and religion)?
(4) Is their any influence in problem-focused coping strategies based on the variants of children with Brain Lesion(including age and degree of disability)?
(5) Is their any influence in emotion-focused coping strategies based on the variants of mothers (including age, school year, and religion)?
(6) Is their any influence in emotion-focused coping strategies based on the variants of children with Brain Lesion(including age and degree of disability)?
The subjects of this study were 83 mothers raising young children who were three to five years old with Brain Lesion in Daejon and Chungnam. The scales adapted from the Parenting Stress index/Short Form (Adibin, 1990) by Kim Hee Soo (1995) were used in order to measure the childcaring stress, and the 44 items that were translated, reduced, and revised by Yoon Soo Young (2002) on the basis of the Way of Coping Checklist developed by Folkman and Lazarus (1984) were used in order to measure the strategies for managing the stress. The collected data were analyzed by SAS, and t-test, analysis of variance, and frequency analysis were performed. The results of this study are as follows.
First, no difference was shown in the age and religion of the mothers, and the childcaring stress was higher when the school year of a mother was lower.
Second, no difference was shown in the childcaring stress based on the age of the with Brain Lesion, and the stress was higher when the degree of disability was higher.
Third, no difference was shown in the problem-focused coping for stress based on the variants including age, school year, and religion of the mothers.
Fourth, no difference was shown in the problem-focused coping for stress based on the variants including age, degree of disability of the children with Brain Lesion
Fifth, no difference was shown in the emotion-focused coping for stress based on the variants including age, school year, and religion of the mothers.
Sixth, no difference was shown in the emotion-focused coping for stress based on the variants including age, degree of disability of the children with Brain Lesion
