These days, as an aging society advances in Korea, the interest of older people on leisure increases. The leisure enjoyment of the elderly removes the loneliness and separation of them which result from the loss of the social role, Therefore, it enables them to experience the life satisfaction and happiness of older people.
Besides, the quality of life in old age changes depending on how older people use their leisure time.
This study is to find the effects of leisure constraints and leisure motives on leisure satisfaction of the elderly who have used the welfare facilities and to analyze the cause and effect of the variables related to leisure satisfaction.
This study was conducted from a population who use the welfare facilities of older people in Seongnam city, Gyeong-Gi Province Kyung-Gi during December 2007.
The subjects were 600 older people sampled from three groups, but only 51 2 replied to Questionnaire in real analysis.
This study was to do frequency analysis to find the general traits of sample and to do reliability analysis on the basis of factor analysis on variables of leisure constraint and leisure motives and leisure satisfaction and to do analysis of variance and multiple regression analysis to verify to the hypothesis
The major findings of the study were as follows
(1) The degree leisure satisfaction differed depending on the social traits of population and ways of leisure participation. On the aspect of social traits of population, the social and emotional satisfaction of women was greater that of men and as the age of women was low, so the emotional degree of them was high, On the aspect of ways of leisure participation, the social satisfaction was highest when the days of participation were from 4 to 5. and the social, emotional, and physical satisfaction was highest when the time of participation was one-day,
(2) In the difference analysis of the welfare facilities of older people, leisure constraint, leisure motives and leisure satisfaction, the more older people participated in the home of older people (Kyoung-Ro-Dang ) , the more they were influenced in intrapersonal constraint, interpersonal constraint and structural constraint. And the more older people joined the room of older people (Roin Koisil) and the welfare home of older people, the more they were influenced in intrinsic and self-determined extrinsic motivation, non-self -determined extrinsic motivation, And leisure satisfaction was the first n the roon of older people and the second in the welfare house of older people and the third in the house of older people.
(3) In the cause and effect analysis of leisure constraint and leisure satisfaction,
the interpersonal constraint of leisure had a negative effect on the social satisfaction and the structural constraint had a negative impact on emotional satisfaction and physical satisfaction, but on a positive impact on the social satisfaction.
(4) In the cause and effect of leisure motives and leisure satisfaction,
while intrinsic motivation and self-determined extrinsic motivation had a positive effect on the emotional, social, physical satisfaction of leisure activities, non-self- determined extrinsic motivation had a positive effect on the social satisfaction.
And while a-motivation had a negative effect on the emotional, and physical satisfaction, it had a positive impact on the social satisfaction,
On the basis of these results, the conclusions were as follows
(1) There is need to develop the fit-leisure activities considering the social traits of population such as sex, age and participation of leisure activities.
(2) There are needs to enhance leisure satisfaction by designing systematically the approach of leisure facilities and the program of leisure activities fit for the physical condition of older people.
(3) In designing the program of leisure activities, by developing the program to overcome interpersonal constraint such as family objection and loss of friends and structural constraint such as lack of facilities and leisure program, there are policy needs to enhance the social, emotional, physical satisfaction,
(4) After dividing leisure motives according to factors in participation of leisure activities of older people, there is need to suggest the policy to stimulate leisure motives in the interpersonal motives and self-determined extrinsic motives and non-self-determined extrinsic motives to make older people participate voluntarily
In this treatise, there is a significance to enhance leisure satisfaction by finding leisure constraint factors of older people who use the welfare facilities and analyzing the effects of these factors on leisure satisfaction,
