Most of the nations have made an effort to develop the innovative technique for the national competitive power in the international based-society in the 21st century. Korea has selected and trained the creatively gifted to keep trace with this international condition.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) has established and managed the invention classes for the gifted since 1995, and started 182 classes in national elementary, middle and high schools as of 2008, and the number of classes is getting more and more to the present. The extensive education for the gifted includes revitalizing the classes for the gifted, training instructors of the classes, selecting the scholarship students of the inventively gifted, and holding the various invention competition among the gifted.
The plan, however, failed to obtain its desirable result, which is caused by the difference between the theoretical research of the education for the inventively gifted and the practical application of the actual educational field.
This thesis is to inspect the systematic and effective way to educate the gifted and talented through the actual investigation in the classes for the gifted in Gyeonggi Province and to find the plan for the education of the inventively talented students.
Three types of tasks are established to accomplish the purpose of this thesis.
First, I analyzed the actual conditions of 28 classes for the gifted in Gyeonggi province through data from books published in 2007 by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Korea Association for School Invention. Second, I got some information about the actual conditions by analyzing from Questionnaires of teachers of the invention classes in Gyeonggi province. Third, I could find the practical suggestion from the in--depth interview in the invention classes
This thesis shows the following result'
Frist, the gifted students in class should be selected by various data from the teacher's recommendation and the multi-leveled test
Second, the educational activity in class should be directed according to 6 sample standard, and the gifted should be trained to get the inventive and comprehensive knowledge as a gifted person.
Third, the class hours should be prolonged to improve the leaner's creativity to 100 hours a year if at all possible. In addition, the various programs and models for the gifted should be introduced.
Fourth, the classes for the gifted should be expanded and books for them should be furnished, and the educational program for the expertise of the teachers should be introduced.
The conclusion of this thesis will be helped to the teachers in their educational activities. In the future, the education for the gifted must be sought through the Qualitative expansion rather than Quantitative one, and this kind of research must be followed.
