This study has performed to offer the basic data for the plan of the quality improvement of environment for daycare teachers so that it can help the daycare teachers instruct the children in the satisfied environment and provide infants and children with high-quality services. The research questions are as follows.
First, what is the reality of environment for the daycare teachers?
Second, how is the degree of satisfaction of daycare teachers?
The subject sample has targeted 229 day-dare teachers in private daycare facilities, daycare facilities for only infants, national and public daycare facilities, corporate daycare facilities in Busan.
The data from these have been analyzed by SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) statistical program and the mean comparison about satisfaction degree between interest groups has been done by ANOVA(analysis of variance) and the difference analysis between groups has performed by Chi-square. The results are as follows.
First, as a result of verification for job satisfaction about human relationships, daycare teachers generally feel satisfied and the elderly and variously experienced teachers have a high satisfaction in the aspect of the relationships between themselves and the principal, parents, co-workers or special lecture instructors. Since they have a wide relationship, as teachers become old and have ripe experience. The teachers who take charge of high level of infants feel relatively very satisfied in the relationship between infants and them because they communicate with infants mutually not in one-way. In the aspect of satisfaction difference between co-workers and the principal, the teachers of the national or public daycare facilities and married ones rather than single ones have a high satisfaction.
Second, in the view of job satisfaction about environment, daycare teachers generally show high satisfaction. However, they feel that they are pressed with routine work rather than their own daycare work, it may cause the lowering of job satisfaction. The national or public daycare facilities have the most routine work(63.4%) and daycare facilities for only infants have the least routine work(16.1%). Because the subject of national or public facilities is the government or local government. Therefore, teachers have a lot of irrational paper work according to the principle of administration convenience. In case of daycare facilities for only infants, they target infants(0-2 years old), so the infants' demand is relatively less than others and their demand is confined to rearing or protecting them. It means that the teachers can concentrate on day-care not other routine work and the president of facilities take care of the office work. Therefore, teachers can be satisfied doing their daycare work by the standardization of office work and unification or abolition of official procedure and the offer of satisfying environment.
Third, in case of job characteristics such as social recognition, the treat as a professional and guarantee of status, teachers show a low satisfaction. The qualification intensification of daycare teachers, re-education, reformation of training for expertise improvement and systematic improvement of labor conditions can make better daycare. In addition, the daycare teachers should have a stable and transparent position by devising a system of long-term employ as well as enacting the law about protection of daycare teachers. The social recognition about the importance of daycare teachers should be increased according to new view toward the professional and national support that expands the excellent staffs by lowering the change of occupation. For the equalization of daycare teachers in personal daycare facilities, the national regulations should be applied to them. Above all things, daycare teachers themselves should work fairly and actively and they need positive and progressive attitude.
