단일 주제 사용 언어교수법의 한국어 교재 개발을 위한 다각적 분석 : 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 = Various analyses for Korean language textbook development using sustained-content language teaching

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently various researches which took newly emerged women marriage immigrants as subjects of Korean language teaching have been increasing. However, the researches about Korean language education methods and development of textbooks which reflect special circumstances the learners face are only at the beginning stage. In this research, women marriage immigrants among all the Korean learning students in Korea have been selected as the subject learners of the research and the goal of this research is to do the base study for the development of textbooks for Korean language education which can most influence women marriage immigrants who form families and play key roles as members of the society.
It was noted through previous researches that appropriate curriculums and textbooks for the Korean language education of the women marriage immigrants should be developed and meet their characteristics and needs considering the circumstance they are under.
The research topics are: 1. what is the women marriage immigrants’ deficiency analysis found from the difference between target situation analysis and present situation analysis in performing Korean education to women marriage immigrants? 2. In developing a textbook based on Sustained-content Language Teaching which handles women marriage immigrants’ pregnancy and childbirth (including mother-child health care after birth) as a theme of superior concept, how do we choose and dispose contents of learning? What layout of teaching methods and classroom activities should be used to enhance the 4 language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing)? What are ways to dispose contents of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation in relation to the material contents of each chaper? This research will study issues regarding text-book development by probing answers to above questions.
In chapter II, types of need analysis for textbook development were separately reviewed by comparing role of textbooks and assessment standards for the textbook analysis.
In chapter III, Sustained-Content Language Teaching was introduced as a language teaching method which is essential for the newly developing text-book. The Sustained-Content Language Teaching was discussed in 2001 TESOL Journal as a special topic. The characteristics of the teaching method which many linguists were interested in recently is that it should enable students acquire both language skills and information and knowledge related to the sustained content. In this research, pregnancy and childbirth (including mother-child care after birth), which will keep women marriage immigrants interested and give them motivation for study, was chosen as a sustained content to develop text-books using the Sustained-content Language Teaching. The sustained content is composed of familiar subjects and contextured set-up so that women marriage immigrants can understand using Schema theory and pick up language skills as well as necessary information and knowledge.
In chapter IV, current language education situation for women marriage immigrants was statistically reviewed and Korean language education support system for them was checked.
In chapter V, interviews and questionnaires were extensively performed to develop Korean language text-books for women marriage immigrants and both local and foreign textbooks were reviewed.
In chapter VI, a direction for sustained-content based Korean language textbook development for women marriage immigrants was presented after various analyses.
This research has its meaning in Korean language education for women marriage immigrants since sustained-content was used for composition of textbooks for the first time unlike other existing Korean language textbooks. The outcome of this research should help, I hope, women marriage immigrant students learn Korean language skills and at the same time help them acquire knowledge and information regarding the sustained content.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 한국어 교수·학습 대상으로 새로이 출현한 여성결혼이민자들에 관하여 여러 학계의 연구들이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 그들이 처한 특수한 환경을 고려한 한국어 교육과 교재 개발에 대한 연구는 아직 시작에 불과하다. 이 연구에서는 국내의 한국어 학습자들 중에서 국제 결혼으로 이주해 온 여성결혼이민자들을 연구 대상 학습자로 선정하고 그들이 가정을 이루고 사회의 한 구성원으로서의 중요한 역할을 하는데 가장 큰 영향을 주는 한국어 교육에 있어서 교재 개발에 대한 기초 연구를 하는데 목적을 두었다.
선행 연구들을 통하여 여성결혼이민자들을 대상으로 한 한국어 교육에서는 학습자들의 상황을 고려하여 그들의 특성과 요구에 적합한 한국어 교육을 위한 교육과정이 세워져야 하고 그에 맞는 특수한 교재가 개발되어야 할 필요가 있음을 알 수 있었다.
연구문제로는 첫째, 여성결혼이민자대상 한국어 교육 실행에 있어 목표상황분석(Target Situation Analysis)과 현재상황분석(Present Situation Analysis)의 차이에서 발견되는 여성결혼이민자들의 결여분석(Deficiency Analysis)은 무엇인가· 둘째, 여성결혼이민자들의 임신·출산(출산 후 모자 보건 포함)을 하나의 상위 개념의 주제로 다룬 ‘단일 주제 사용의 교수법에 근거한 한국어 교재’ 개발에 있어서 학습 내용은 어떻게 선정하고 배열하는가? 그리고 단일 주제를 사용한 여성결혼이민자 대상의 한국어 교재에서 언어의 네 기술(말하기, 듣기, 읽기, 쓰기)을 향상시키기 위한 다양한 교수·학습 활동은 어떻게 구성되어야 하는가? 와 단일 주제를 사용한 여성결혼이민자 대상의 한국어 교재에서 문법, 어휘, 발음 교육을 각 단원의 내용과 관련 지어 전개하는 방법에는 어떤 것이 있는가· 를 들어 교재 개발에 관한 문제들을 탐구하고자 하였다.
Ⅱ장에서는 교재의 역할과 교재 분석을 위한 평가 기준들을 비교하여 보고 교재 개발을 위한 요구분석의 유형들을 구분하여 살펴보았다.
Ⅲ장에서는 새로이 개발하려는 교재의 근본을 이루는 교수법으로 단일 주제를 사용한 언어교수법 (Sustained-Content Language Teaching)을 소개하였다. 단일 주제를 사용한 언어교수법은 TESOL Journal의 2001년 특수 주제로 다루어진 이슈이다. 언어 학자들이 새로이 관심을 가지게 된 이 교수법의 특징은 학습자들이 언어 학습 시에 언어 능력의 향상과 더불어 단일 주제와 관련된 정보와 지식을 함께 획득할 수 있게 된다는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 단일 주제를 사용한 언어교수법을 적용한 교재 개발을 위하여 여성결혼이민자들에게 흥미를 주고 또한 그들의 동기를 유발시킬 수 있는 ‘임신·출산(출산 후 모자 보건 포함)’을 단일 주제로 선정하였다. 이 주제는 여성결혼이민자들의 스키마 구조를 이용하여 이해를 도울 수 있는 내용으로 익숙한 소재와 맥락화된 설정으로 전개될 수 있어 여성결혼이민자에게 필요한 지식과 정보를 제공해 주며 동시에 그들의 언어 능력을 향상시킬 수 있다고 본다.
Ⅳ장에서는 최근의 여성결혼이민자들의 한국어 교육 상황을 통계로 살펴보고 그들을 위한 한국어 교육 지원 체제들을 점검해 보았다.
Ⅴ장에서는 여성결혼이민자 대상의 한국어 교재 개발을 위하여 인터뷰와 설문조사의 대상을 다양하게 구성하여 실행하였고 국내외 교재들을 분석하였다.
Ⅵ장에서는 다각적인 분석의 결과를 논의하여 단일 주제를 사용한 여성결혼이민자 대상 한국어 교재 개발을 위한 방향을 제시하였다.
이 연구는 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 한 한국어 교육에 있어서 기존의 한국어 교재와는 달리 처음으로 교재 구성에 단일 주제를 사용한 연구라는 점에 의의가 있다. 이 연구의 분석 결과는 앞으로 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 한 한국어 교육에 있어서 학습자들이 일반적인 한국어 능력을 강화시킬 뿐만 아니라 단일 주제와 관련된 내용을 익히고 지식과 정보의 획득을 가져오는데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
