조선시대 팔경도 연구 = Study on Joseon dynasty of The Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Picture is the one that expressed eight scenic beauties as the title of the picture. Using a scenic beauty from eight chosen landscapes for the subtitle of work appears as a shared phenomenon in literature and pictures. In this tendency lies the aim of selecting eight scenic masterpieces for establishing a scenic beauty. On its basis, this thesis intends to consider the formation, evolving process and kinds of the Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Picture.
The Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Picture developed in China can be divided in its kind into Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures completed on the basis of classical subject matters and scenic beauty Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures through touring actual scenery. In China, poetry reciting on the fine view of Sosang region appears from around the 3rd century and poems for Hosang Eight Scenic Masterpieces with a certain formality have been repeatedly created by a number of writers since. Sosang Eight Scenic Masterpieces also tended to be created over and again with a similar formality and this can be confirmed through title poems included in the works. Scenic beauty Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures was manufactured influenced by the creation of Eight Scenic-Masterpiece poetry and the fashion of Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures. As a result of analyzing the works and the title poems, it was verified that in the background of manufacturing the Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures, there existed an aim to make a scenic beauty out of the actual scenery which the writer opted for.
The Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures manufactured in Goryeo and Joseon dynasty also had the same inclination as in China. First, as regards Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures introduced in Goryeo era, the shape at that time can be inferred from the existing title poems. It is found that the poetic language expressed in the title poems is similar to the expressed pictorial idea of the Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures in the former period of Joseon . This is considered due to the fact that the formality of Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures with classical subject matters had been already streamed into Goryeo from China in a complete form. This kind of trend affected the manufacture of <Beehaedang Sosang Eight Scenic Masterpiece poetry book> in the former period of Joseon , and beneath it, it was found that Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures were used for the classical subject matter that represents ideal scenery. In this writing, the Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures completed for a classical theme in literature and pictures were classified into Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece form. Sosang Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures generally showed the aspect of a certain pictorial idea and formality being put into works repeatedly. This suggests that Sosang Eight Scenic Masterpieces was recognized as the classical ideal scenery by the literary men and that it backgrounds the same expressive formality emerged.
Scenic beauty Eight Scenic-Masterpiece Pictures manufactured on the bases of recorded tourism is due to the custom of choosing eight scenic beauties. In the former period of Joseon , selecting new-town eight scenic masterpieces and scenic beauty eight scenic masterpieces based on royal dignity was actively made and later, selecting eight scenic masterpieces was focused on personal far-off places for retirement. Such custom of selecting the eight scenic masterpieces reflected the literary men’s understanding that selecting actual scenery as the eight scenic masterpieces makes a scenic beauty. Based on it, this writing divided the kind into scenic-beauty eight-scenic-masterpiece form and far-off retirement scenic masterpiece form.
First, in case of scenic-beauty eight-scenic-masterpiece form, subtitles indicating the same region are repeatedly cited by a number of literary men. This reveals that the subtitles for the selected eight scenic masterpieces had already represented the scenic beauty over the whole neighborhood. Seen through the existing works and title poems, it can be understood that scenic beauty eight scenic masterpiece pictures were manufactured with a certain formality and that there was a pictorial idea commonly expressed in the works. This demonstrates that the background of selecting scenic beauty for eight scenic masterpieces and the viewpoint of perceiving the eight scenic masterpieces were exchanged on an equal basis.
Far-off retirement eight scenic masterpiece form can be referred to as the ones selected for the purpose of personal preference and enjoyment. This, unlike scenic beauty eight scenic masterpiece form loved by the majority, can be seen as a reflection of personal viewpoint and purpose on the work, chiefly containing an aim to make widely known one’s own far-off place for seclusion as a scenic beauty. And to leave this behind in history it was manufactured in the form of illustrated poem books. But unlike this, it is noted that there is the eight scenic-masterpiece pictures selected by artists. They are mainly eight scenic masterpiece pictures completed by writers on the subject of far-off places for retirement or places of scenic beauty. This reflects the far-off retirement eight scenic masterpiece form with an intention for the personal preference by the writer and setting up the selected subject as a scenic beauty.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

八景圖는 名勝의 여덟 경치를 畵題로 표현한 그림이다. 이처럼 명승을 팔경으로 선정해서 작품의 小標題로 활용하는 것은 문학과 회화에서 공통된 현상으로 나타난다. 이러한 경향에는 명승화를 위한 팔경 선정이라는 목적이 존재한다. 본 논문은 이를 바탕으로 팔경도의 성립과 전개과정 및 팔경도의 유형을 고찰하고자 한다.
중국에서 전개되는 팔경도는 고전적 제재를 바탕으로 완성된 瀟湘八景圖와 實景遊覽을 통한 名勝八景圖로 유형을 구분할 수 있다. 중국에서 瀟湘지역의 승경을 읊은 시는 3세기경부터 등장하며 이후 일정한 형식을 가진 瀟湘八景詩가 다수의 작가에 의해 반복적으로 창작되었다. 소상팔경도 역시 유사한 형식을 가지고 재창작되는 경향을 보이며 작품에 수록된 題畵詩를 통해서도 이를 확인 할 수 있다. 명승팔경도는 팔경시의 창작과 소상팔경도의 유행에 영향을 받아 제작되었고 작품의 제화시를 분석해 본 결과 팔경도의 제작 배경에는 작가가 선택한 실경을 명승화하려는 목적이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
고려시대와 조선시대에 제작된 팔경도 역시 중국과 같은 성향을 가지고 있었다. 먼저 고려시대에 유입된 소상팔경도는 현존하는 제화시를 통해 당시의 모습을 추정할 수 있다. 제화시에 표현된 詩語가 조선전기 소상팔경도의 표현도상과 유사함이 발견된다. 이는 古典的 題材인 소상팔경도의 형식이 이미 완성된 형태로 중국에서 고려에 유입된 것으로 보인다. 이러한 경향성은 조선 전기 『匪懈堂瀟湘八景詩帖』의 제작에도 영향을 미쳤으며, 이를 바탕으로 소상팔경이 理想景을 상징하는 고전적 제재로 사용되었음을 알 수 있었다. 본고에서는 문학과 회화에서 고전적 제재로서 완성된 팔경도를 瀟湘八景形으로 분류하였다. 소상팔경형은 대개 일정한 도상과 형식이 반복적으로 작품에 표현되는 양상을 보였다. 이는 소상팔경이 고전적 이상경으로 문인들에게 인식되어, 동일한 표현형식으로 등장하게 된 배경이 되었다고 할 수 있다.
紀遊를 바탕으로 제작된 명승팔경도는 명승의 팔경 선정 관습에 기인한 것이다. 조선 전기는 王化稱頌을 위한 新都八景과 명승팔경의 선정이 활발하게 이루어졌고, 이후 개인의 別墅幽居地를 대상으로 한 팔경선정이 중심을 이룬다. 이러한 팔경선정 관습은 實景을 八景으로 선정하면 명승이 된다는 문인들의 인식을 반영한 것이다. 본고에서는 이를 토대로 名勝八景形과 別墅幽居八景形으로 유형을 구분했다.
먼저 명승팔경형의 경우 다수의 문인들에 의해 같은 지역을 지칭하는 소표제가 반복적으로 인용된다. 또한 이것은 선정된 팔경의 소표제가 이미 그 일대의 명승을 상징하고 있었음을 알 수 있다. 현존하는 작품과 제화시를 통해 보면 명승팔경도는 일정한 형식을 가지고 제작되었으며, 작품에 공통적으로 표현되는 도상이 있었음을 파악할 수 있다.
이는 명승을 팔경으로 선정하게 된 배경과 팔경을 인식하는 관점이 동일하게 교류되고 있음을 보여준다.
별서유거팔경형은 개인적 애호와 향유를 목적으로 선정된 팔경이라 할 수 있다. 이것은 다수에 의해 애호된 명승팔경형과 달리 개인적 관점과 목적이 작품에 반영된 것으로 볼 수 있다. 주로 자신의 별서유거를 명승지로 널리 알리고자 하는 목적을 담고 이를 기리 남기기 위해 詩畵帖의 형태로 제작되었다. 이와는 달리 화가에 의해 선정된 팔경도가 있어 주목된다. 이들은 주로 별서유거지나 명승지를 대상으로 작가에 의해 완성된 팔경도이다. 이는 작가 개인적 애호와 선택한 대상의 명승화라는 목적을 가진 별서유거팔경형의 성경을 반영한다.
