Although lots of educational research has so far dealt with teachers'' teaching professionalism, most of them have studied theoretical knowledge. Consequently, we lack of the empirical research on the field and its main evidence and practice that teachers have to be well versed in. Based on this point, This study was intended to examine factors that influence teachers'' teaching professionalism; principals, teachers on the relative weight of units for structural analysis.
For this purpose, I handled three research questions. First, from model fit point of view, is model of this study valid?
Second, how does principal''s transformational leadership affect teaching professionalism by using teachers'' accountability, teacher-efficacy and
teacher commitment as a parameter?
Third, do teachers'' background variables make differences between
structural equation model fit and research variables (principal''s
transformational leadership, teachers'' accountability, teacher-efficacy,
teacher commitment, teaching professionalism)?
This study was employed questionnaire survey for 1,200 teachers in elementary and middle schools. For the statistical analysis of the results, t-test, factor analysis and structural equation model were executed using SPSS and AMOS programs.
Major findings from research questions are as follows: First, the teachers
seemed to weight teaching professionalism through accountability for
their students. This means considerable action of the policy related teacher evaluation should be taken to each teachers'' group. Secondly, teacher commitment was due to accountability for his or her student. Thirdly, principal''s transformational leadership did not affect teachers'' teaching professionalism. Fourthly, principal''s transformational leadership negatively affect teacher commitment. Fifthly, teacher groups much affected by perceived teaching professionalism were experienced
teacher(15 years over).
