(Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of family, school, and shelter related factors on teen pregnant mothers' willingness to return to the school after giving birth. A survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted to address the research questions. Participants were 104 teen pregnant mothers who resided in shelter located in Daegu, Kyongbook, Kangwon, and Seoul. The data were collected from Feb. through March, 2008 and analyzed by utilizing SPSS. 14
The result showed that family support and family adaptability were statistically significant factors in predicting the variance of teen pregnant mothers' willingness to return. Especially, the family support showed the strongest impact on the explaining the variance of their willingness to return to school. However, school teachers' support, shelter programs and shelter professional's support didn't show any impact on the explaining the variance of their willingness to return to school. Additionally, a multiple regression analysis was conducted to find out the most important factors influencing on the teen pregnant mothers' willingness to return to school. The findings of the study indicated the family adaptability was the most important factor in explaining the variance of their willingness to return to school.
In conclusion, this study attempted to find out factors influencing teen pregnant mothers' willingness to return to school, and provided a useful information for better understanding of teen pregnant mothers.
