Many companies are making the best use of corporate meetings of convention type because of active participating of employee, emphasizing of collaboration in organization, smoothness of individual communication, prompt decision and endowment of challenging opportunity for personal achievement.
This study was based on the case analysis that the motivational self and ability formed from corporate meetings of convention type have affected the determinants of performance(job involvement, organizational commitment) and job performance, because several companies have been held convention to their employees, sales-persons and distributors as one of the means of profit seeking and social estimate.
Through extensive literature review, I have defined the concept of the values of participation(motivational self and ability) at corporate meetings of convention type, the determinants of performance, job performance.
Based on theoretical research, research model and hypotheses were set. A two-time person to person survey was conducted to probe them during the periods from May 23 to June 23, 2006(32 days) and from August 17 to September 14, 2006(29 days). The questionnaire respondents consisted of four sections: automobile, electronics, cosmetics, and health foods companies' employees. A total of 850 questionnaires were distributed, 771 were collected, and the final samples of 575 used for statistical analysis. The collected data were analyzed usings SPSS Ver. 12.0 and AMOS Ver. 4.0.
As for the statistical techniques, the frequency analysis, the descriptive statistical analysis, the correlation analysis, the factor analysis and the reliability analysis were conducted using such method as multivariate statistical analysis. For the analysis on the differences of the respondents' recognition, one-way ANOVA was used. For the follow-up test, the multiple comparison method of duncan was used. The hypothetical relationship among factors were tested by using regression analysis and setting up the structure equation modeling for forming the organic relationship examination model.
The exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to probe the validity of the measure instrument resulted in the drawing of each 3 common factors of motivational self and the naming of them as collective self, individual self, relational self. Ability, in turn, have been classified into three categories, including competence of job execution, retention & manifestation of information & skill, and consideration of value & moral principal. The determinants of performance have been identified as five factors, including job importance, job unification, job interest, emotive commitment and normative commitment. Finally, two classes of job performance have been identified: individual performance and group performance.
As the result of ANOVA and T-test analysis, it was found that all factors of the motivational self, the ability, the determinants of performance and the job performance show differences in classification by industry, regional groups, sex distinction, the number of participation, the purpose of participation and the intention of re-participation to corporate meetings of convention type.
As the result of regression and path analysis, it was found that all three factors of motivational self(collective self, individual self, relational self) formed from participation at convention have affected the determinants of performance and job performance. All three factors of ability(competence of job execution, retention & manifestation of information & skill, consideration of value & moral principal) formed from participation at convention have affected the determinants of performance and job performance. And all five factors of the determinants of performance(job importance, job interest, job unification, emotive commitment, normative commitment) formed from participation at convention have affected job performance.
As the result of the structure equation modeling, the total 6 factors(each 3 factors of the motivational self and ability) were designated as observed variables, while the motivational self and ability which are the values of participation at corporate meetings of convention type were designated as potential exogenous variable. Also the total 5 factors(job importance, job interest, job unification, emotive commitment, normative commitment) were designated as observed variables, while the determinants of performance was designated as parameter, And the total 2 factors(individual performance, group performance) were designated as observed variables, while the job performance was designated as potential endogenous variable.
The standardized estimates of the values of participation(the motivational self and ability) at corporate meetings of convention type and the determinants of performance were 0.616(C.R. 4.642) and 0.324 (C.R. 2.451). Also the standardized estimates of the values of participation at corporate meetings of convention type and the job performance were 0.526(C.R. 3.580) and 0.395(C.R. 2.683). And the standardized estimate of the determinants of performance and the job performance was 0.948(C.R. 31.051). Therefore, it turned out that the determinants of performance act as a parameter between the values of participation at corporate meetings of convention type and the job performance.
This study achieved the following goals through research, both in literature and actual:
In literature, it established a conceptual frame of the values of participation at corporate meetings of convention type, the determinants of performance, and job performance based on the theoretical setting of preceding research.
In actual, it was found that motivational self and ability formed from corporate meetings of convention type have affected the determinants of performance and job performance. And it was found that the determinants of performance formed from corporate meetings of convention type have affected job performance.
It needs to be made up of collective self, individual self, relational self, competence of job execution, retention & manifestation of information & skill, and consideration of value & moral principal in planning and operating of the corporate meetings of convention type. So, the corporations should have interests in the corporate meetings of convention type as a means of inner marketing and continue to study the corporate meetings of convention type.
