Now a days the casino industry has confronted to move its position as a growing business more competent than other industries and to upgrade its level of service qualities that satisfies customers with needs since it cannot be maintained by utilizing an existing approaching method being caused by popularization and internationalization. Therefore, this study was aimed to analyze the plans that can contribute to prevent and decrease an burnout of casino dealers who have the highest possibility of burnout among interpersonal service workers, to maximize their capabilities inducing clients, and to improve the efficiency of a casino organization.
Interviewers who had taken a course of interviewing for this study interviewed and made questionnaires for 300 domestic casino dealers in Gang won-do Province, for a period of 34 days from Aug. 9 to Sep. 11, 2007 in working days and weekends.
Statistical analysis was conducted by using the SPSS 12.0 for Windows, a statistical package program, having passed the data coding and the data cleaning. And the analytical results are summarized in the following.
First, it has showed that they had positive degrees in self-esteem, task difficulty preference, self-confidence, self-regulatory efficacy, and internal control. In self-esteem, the male workers were higher than the female workers, and the class 5, those employed less than one year and exceeding 7 years, and those with annual salary less than KRW 15 million were highest. In task difficulty preference, the male workers and those with academic career of high school were higher. In self-confidence, the male workers were higher, and as the ages were lower as those were higher, and the classes with others, employed year of less than 1 year, annual salary of less than KRW 15 million were highest. In self-regulatory efficiency, the classes with others, employed year of less than 1 year, annual salary of less than KRW 15 million were highest. In internal control, the male workers were higher, and as the academic careers were lower as those were higher, and the class of intern, employed year of less than 1 year, annual salary of less than KRW 15 million were highest.
Second, emotional exhaustion, the lower factor of burnout, the academic career of more than graduate school was highest, the class 6 and contract workers, employed years of 1 to 3, and those with annual salaries of KRW 15 to 30 million were highest. Depersonalization, the female workers, those with academic career of more than graduate school, the class 6 and contract workers, employed years of 1 to 3 and 3 to 5, and those with annual salaries of KRW 15 to 30 million were highest. Reduced personal accomplishment, the female workers, those with academic career of more than graduate school, the class 6 and contract workers, employed years of 3 to 5, and those with annual salaries of KRW 30 to 40 million were highest. The female workers, the class 6, and contract workers who have the highest portion in the sampling had a lower intrinsic factor recognizing degree but higher burnout, whose reason has been analyzed that it has a significant problem in their titles. Therefore, it is important to prepare them with a good title to undergo their duties. As the academic career was higher as the burnout was higher so that it is required to take an aptitude examination. If they have their duties according to their best aptitude, they will contribute more in the organization of a casino then.
Third, it was shown that an intrinsic factor influenced on burnout and the variables that could influence on emotional exhaustion was analyzed by task difficulty preference and self-confidence, Depersonalization was analyzed by task difficulty preference, Reduced personal accomplishment was analyzed by self-esteem and task difficulty preference respectively, There are many factors that influence on burnout of casino dealers among which it was most important in self-efficacy. Acquiring such degree of self-efficacy, it needs to take effort by themselves and give them with training programs continuously.
Fourth, It was shown that mentoring had a positive effect on self-regulatory efficacy, emotional exhaustion and Reduced personal accomplishment. A group having a high self-regulatory efficacy could accept a mentoring positively so that they could decrease in emotional exhaustion and Reduced personal accomplishment, which will be a recommended plan to relieve burnout, that will be recommended to enterpriser of casino organization in the future.
This study was conducted to prevent and minimize an burnout of casino dealers by adopting a mentoring. However, the study contained the following limitations
There were many other questionnaires and they worked busy so that this questionnaire has great deviations in it having caused by incorrect replies from them. And further more the sampling time was so short that this questionnaire could not reflect all aspect of their organization. Therefore an additional questionnaire will be done by having a sufficient time to investigate their actual situation in the future.
And also the analytical tools in this study which had been translated from foreign researches would not be suitable for actual situations of the domestic casino industry. A development on measuring tool that will suitable to actual situations of the domestic casino industry and evaluation of the developed tool will be carried out in the future.
