Ⅰ. Purpose of the Study
The intervention of counselor's role in vocational counseling or career counseling is mainly focused on providing vocational information as individual's need. In vocational counseling process, the information of profession is offered as perceiving what the person needed. At this point, it also has to be modified correctly if the formerly acquired information appeared to be false by questionnaire(Byoung Sook Kim, 2007).
The information has its worth only when the formality is closer enough to the user's desirable one and easy to approach. Thus, the study about effective way of sending vocational information process on creating, producing and providing job can be able to help for the career expert, counselor and the users, for them to select and use higher quality vocational information.
For this matter, this study is not only about the search for decision making method, but about the analysis of preference to different quality level of vocational information, the relationship in exploring job profiles, and finally tried to pull out the basic data for manufacturing and producing vocational information which suits for each user's level.
Ⅱ. Method of the Study
This study conducted in the following regions including; Seoul, Kyounggi, Inchon, Chungcheong, Cheonlla and the participants were all attendee of four year university. To achieve our goal appropriately, the measure, career decision scale was compensated and applied to be perfect used as for the study of Harren(1984). The main factors for preference to the quality of vocational information and the information search set through various domestic and international documents.
This study data system genuinely dealt with SPSSWIN 12.0 program proved the hypothesis using by its frequency analysis, causes, trust measurement, t-test, one way ANOVA, correlation and so on.
Ⅲ. Results
First, as for the result of analysis in the decision scale divided by gender, grade, major; there is no difference between male and female students to the rational and intuitive career decision approach although female students are more likely to depend on others when making decision. In arrange of senior, junior, fresh man, sophomore were presented closer to the rational approach by different grade and in the order of senior, freshman, junior, sophomore to the dependent approach. There is no specific difference among various grades making decision followed by their instinct. Also, there is no significant difference in decision scale depending on the major.
Second, there is no gender difference in regard to the preference of quality of vocational information by looking upon grade, gender and major. By different grade, the senior year student group was more likely to be latest vocational information, and lower grade student group(freshman and sophomore) shown more concerned about the information quality of access and utility. By what they studying, utility and accuracy were proven to be priority for all, meanwhile students who study technology were scored the highest in both criteria.
Third, it appeared that male students tend to utilize online/offline tools when searching for the vocational information than female students in vocational information search. By grade, the senior year students are the most active group of search for the vocational information. Different on major, the case of students that study technology and liberal arts explore their vocational information ultimately concentrating on human resource and more actively manpower, relationship between human and work whole in one.
Fourth, as for the result of correlation between decision scale and quality of job info, the group of students approach to the factor rationally tend to look for latest, utility, accuracy, usefulness and other quality information for job search, and for the group where they approach to the factors followed by instinct are more likely to look for the access, utility, exactitude and other quality of factor. On the other hand, the groups of people, who are dependant decision makers, were irrelevant for any known quality of factor.
Fifth, rational thinkers were using their method of exploring human resource and actively man power, mostly throughout the people and work while intuitive students were using their method of exploring material resources and others in the study of correlation between decision scale and vocational information search among university students. The dependant decision group of students were shown using more of personal contact to their friends, seniors, families, relatives or so when search their vocational information.
In conclusion, the result about preference of quality of vocational information and information search could be vary depending on student's gender, grade and major, which alludes to us that the needy of developing diverse vocational info system and variety of study upon each differentiating individual is severely required, to make vocational info as catalytic role to support decision making. Furthermore, as shown in the above study, the preference and vocational info search of rational decision makers could be used for good model and we expect to be facilitated a kind of supportive program for the right career decision when counseling in the nearer future.
