Recently influx of female work force into labor market has been emerged as a policy method in our country due to population decrease. Those married women, in particular, who have been withdrawn from labor market due to marriage, child birth, and child-raising, and who try to enter into the labor market again after child is grown, have drawn attention of society.
Therefore, professional consultation for job-seeking married women who wish to return to their jobs has become greater necessity, and variety of methods for effective consulting have been studied. It is assumed that many variables would be influential in the course of selecting jobs by married women. In this research, having judged that to identify and evaluate job values properly upheld by individual woman when conducting job consulting for married women shall be of help for them to seek and select appropriate jobs, researcher chose the factor concerned with job valueas the main research topic. This research was aimed at providing basic reference materials for conducting effective job consulting for job-seeking women having analyzed the job selection process of married women.
Married women registered in Women Vision Center located in Gyeonggi-do were selected as the subject of this research, and were asked to complete a survey that included questions. 350 respondents among 400 participants returned their questionnaires and total 314 respondents, excluding participants who failed to complete questionnaire, or inadequate responses, were subjected to further analysis.
In this research, those factors that included in various job values upheld by married women engaging in homemaker’s work are to be analyzed, as well as the differences in the job values according to individual characteristics of married women, also in job selection according to individual characteristics are to be analyzed. In addition, researcher analyzes how such job values would affect job selection.
Job values were classified into intrinsic factors (own ability, social dedication, human-relations oriented) and extrinsic factors (economy first, social-consciousness-driven, pursuing stability), etc. and as to job selection, it was classified into work-oriented job, compensation-oriented job, household-oriented job, and so forth.
Data processing for this research was done using SPSSWIN12.0 program. And, to resolve research problems, factor analysis was conducted. Ensuing from this analysis, data and information were analyzed by reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA, and Multi Regression Analysis, etc. The results are as follows.
First, results from verification of differences in job value factors according to individual characteristics of married women revealed that there were differences according to age, education, duration of career interruption, and work experience, etc.
Second, results from verification of differences in job selection factors according to individual characteristics of married women indicated that there were differences according to age, duration of career interruption, and work experience, etc.
Third, results from verification of differences in job selection factors according to job value factors of married women showed that there were differences in work-oriented job, compensation-oriented job and so on.
Fourth, it was verified that job value of married women affected job selection. The results from analysis revealed that those factors that affected work-oriented job were own ability, social dedication, human-relations oriented, and that those factors that affected compensation-oriented job were own ability, social dedication, economy first, social-consciousness-driven, and pursuing stability, etc. and that those factors that had impact on household-oriented job were social-consciousness-driven and pursuing stability, etc.
In conclusion, through this research, researcher could have found that there were differences in job value and job selection according to individual characteristic of married women, and also confirmed that job value had influence on job selection. Lately, participation rate of married women in economic activities has been increased, and also their desires to return to job have been heightening. It is required to conduct professional job consulting in a systematic manner that would enable married women who experienced career interruption to judge and interpret their job values righteously, and also to select their jobs properly.
