This research is based on Territorial Education in Social Studies of Israel. It is the summary of distinctive features of Israel's Social Studies and the analysis of it's Territorial Education.
It shows the careful analysis of the main contents, problems, and improvement to improve Territorial Education in Korean Elementary Social Studies curriculum. Furthermore, how the enhancement of Territorial Education can help Social Studies . Then summarization of it's content this research it same as the afterwords.
First through previous researches one looked at the definition and meaning of Territorial Education and divided the contents into intelligence, function, and meaningful attitude.
In Territorial Education the following contents must be achieved. In Political Geography, political line, territorial boundaries and phases, cultural boundaries, territorial changes, iconography, in Functional Geography, analysis of map information, in Meaningful Attitude Geography protection of it's territory and knowledge of history, the importance of development and preservation, and international relations.
Secondly, since Territorial Education is the main focus of Geography in Israel, one focused the research on two public schools who had great interest in this area and carefully looked at how they handled the essential elements.
Even in the early stages forming it's particulars for their country, one can see that Israel is reconstructing its Territorial Education to improve their curriculum. The distinctive characteristics of Israel's Social Studies education is their special way of learning about it's county and it's environment. Especially in political geographical education, education through map images, education of iconography in territorial establishment and many other unique methods of learning history.
Thirdly, one looked at how essential elements in Territorial Education was presented in our country.
Since, Korea is not able to fulfill the society's demand for Territorial division between it's county and the neighbouring counties, also when one looks at the information presented in territorial education section one can realize that adjustments and revisions are necessary.
Lastly, through researches shown above one discussed about the course of direction in Korea Social Studies curriculum.
One has to Improve Territorial Education in order to solve problems in Social Studies Education such as, the division, of history, geography, and general social studies, and it's policy and keeping the Expanding Environments.
Inattentive focus on Territorial Education Social Studies curriculum needs to improve. One needs to increase national pride through Territorial Education, also interest in Territorial Education must be installed in people's minds. Lastly, with the help of Social Studies department the education of maps needs to be strengthened in the curriculum.
Territorial Education in elementary school will be the starting point of national and cultural identity and it will also help students to become more global critical thinkers. Finally, will be a great contribution in helping students to grow into global citizens with diverse and dynamic attitudes.
