The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate language learning model and methods of reading instruction about the Classical Chinese as a second language. I suggest benefits of learning of the Classical Chinese as a second language after investigating a spot of it as a language.
It's a fact that there are no specific bases and papers about the claim that the Classical Chinese is a language. This appearance makes the Classical Chinese textbook unorganized, the instruction of reading difficult and its necessity of existence confused. Consequently, I define the Classical Chinese as a second language after investigating a spot of it as a language. First of all, to Argue this, I establish the basis that the Classical Chinese as a second language is more closer than as a first language, mother tongue from a spot of the Classical Chinese as a language. And stand on this established basis, I argue differences of between a first language and a second language.
On the assumption that the Classical Chinese is a second language, I survey the Two-Cone Model from a theoretical point of view how a second language learning is getting accomplished with a mother tongue, and then apply it to the learning of the Classical Chinese. Also, I analysis the factors that learning of the Classical Chinese as using ‘Contrastive Analysis(CA)’ and ‘Interlanguage(IL)’ theory. I expect that this makes the establishment of the sequence or the degree of difficulty. Especially, in the section of this thesis that the circumstance has an effect on the learning of the Classical Chinese sets up the domain of ‘Culture’.
In addition based on preceding description, I construct the three steps, ‘Pre-reading, While-reading, Post-reading’, to teach a reading comprehension of the Classical Chinese as a second language, and then argue with and apply to the strategies. In this chapter it's bent over backward to suggest interactive models or top-down models.
In this thesis I make clear a spot of the Classical Chinese, establish the basis of this. Also I find out how the Classical Chinese is interacting with a mother tongue as a second language while students are learning it. Especially it's a result that this thesis indicates that the Classical Chinese education can be investigated as a reading as well as a language education.
