The purpose of this thesis is to invest writing efficacy and beliefs and to explore the effects of writing efficacy and beliefs of korean language teachers to evaluating students writing.
Teachers who are in charge of writing class are most important in writing assessment. A great deal of effort has been made on writing assessment, however it seems to be lacking on korean language teachers, the subject of writing assessment. Specifically, numerous attempts have been made by researchers to acknowledge the effect on korean language teachers' affective characteristics in writing curriculum, but the effect on teachers' affective characteristics in writing assessment have been strangely neglected by them. Based on this rationale, the researcher examined writing assessment, koreans language teachers' affective characteristics in theoretically, contents and methods in association with it. And then, this study was focused on investing writing efficacy and beliefs and also exploring the effect on the korean language teachers' writing efficacy and beliefs. This study examine the career and the gender to analyze them.
It should be concluded from what has been said above, as follows.
In the first place, writing efficacy of korean language teachers showed mean level and transactional writing beliefs was superior in belief analysis data. For example, it was expected that korean language teachers' writing efficacy would effect on evaluating students writing, but it did not showed meaningful results in statistically. There were no meaningful difference in career with 10 years more, but meaningful difference was found out in total average, organization, word-grammar in career with 10 years under. It revealed that the more career korean language teachers, the more writing evaluation specificity is extended and the less the efficacy effects on writing evaluation.
In the second place, the test result of writing beliefs revealed meaningful difference in organization. This result proves that korean language teacher evaluate according to their writing beliefs against the given writing criteria. Transactional writing beliefs also made most significant difference in career with 10 years under as compared with transmissional writing beliefs. This result proves that korean language teacher evaluate not by their writing belies but by writing evaluation specificity in career with 10 years more.
Finally, there were no meaningful difference in male, but meaningful difference was found in female on effect by the writing beliefs. It shows that effect in writing beliefs is stronger the female korean language teacher than male teacher on writing evaluation.
This thesis is important in that it explore the effect on the korean language teachers' writing efficacy and belief and suggest considering korean language teachers' affective characteristics in interpreting the writing assessment and applying new writing curriculum. These results lead to the conclusion that korean language teachers needs to be asked high-level writing efficacy and transactional writing beliefs as well.
