The purpose of this study is to investigate injury circumstances of the amateur golfers for popularization of Korean golf. With grasping and studying actual conditions and controversial, the necessary of this study is brought with the expectation effects which is to protect the amateur golfers from injuries through comparing investigation studying amateur golfers, and to develop teaching method and capacity for locomotion. To achieve the purpose and the need of the study, the subjects were composed of amateur golfers from golf practice ranges in Seoul as a population, and, by using convenience sampling method, 10 golf practice ranges were selected. 30 golfers from each range, total 300 amateur golfers were surveyed. Thus, 281 surveys were actually used due to the dishonesty and authenticity. Frequency analysis was used as statistical analysis method and x2 was practiced. Through the method and the process of the study, results are derived as followed.
1. Personal characteristics-related injury
1) Season when an injury occurred with the personal characteristics
It indicates that injuries occur the most in winter(55.2%), in spring(19.9%), in summer(13.9%), and the last in autumn. Statistically, it shows that there is a similar difference with age, experience, average score, and rounding frequency.
2) Place where an injury occurred with the personal characteristics
It indicates that injuries occur more in practice range(55.2%) than in actual field(44.8%). Statistically, it shows that there is a similar difference with golf experience and month average rounding frequency. It is considered that stronger percussion is occurred in practice range when swinging a club.
3) Weather when an injury occurred with the personal characteristics
It indicates that injuries occur most in cloudy weather(49.5%), in raining(23.1%), in snow(16.0%), and in serenity(11.4%). Statistically, it shows that there is a similar difference with age, experience, average score, and rounding frequency.
4) Time when an injury occurred with the personal characteristics
It indicates that injuries occur most in the early morning(34.5%), in the morning(34.5%), in the afternoon(17.4%), and in the evening (13.5%). Statistically, it shows that there is a similar difference with age, experience, average score, and rounding frequency.
5) Parts where an injury occurred with the personal characteristics
It indicates that injuries occur most in the arm(46.3%), in the shoulder(27.0%), in the body(17.1%), in the leg(7.5%), and etc.(2.1%). Statistically, it shows that there is a similar difference with age, experience, average score, and rounding frequency.
6) Golf injury symptoms with the personal characteristics
It indicates that injuries related to the muscle occur the most(63.7%), injuries related to the skin(13.9%), and injuries related to the bones (5.7%). Statistically, it shows that there is a similar difference with age, experience, average score, and rounding frequency.
7) Golf club used when an injury occurred with the personal characteristics
It indicates that injuries occur most when swinging a driver(33.5%), a short iron(23.5%), a long iron(20.3%), a fairway wood(13.2%), and a middle iron(9.6%). Statistically, it shows that there is a similar difference with age, experience, average score, and rounding frequency.
