SI 프로젝트에서 성과 향상을 위한 PMO 적용 방안 = A Method for Applying PMO to Enhance Performances in SI Project

The uncertainty in today's business management environment is growing due to customers' increased demands and rapid technological innovations. To survive competition, businesses must create new markets and customers, and more and more companies are becoming project-centered, focusing on major projects. With this trend combined with advanced computer, IT and communications technologies, many domestic businesses have SI(System Integration) projects, the importance of which is growing.
In the case of SI projects, due to its characteristics, the importance of project management is ever rising. An increasing number of projects contain and operate PMO(Project Management Office) as a means to boost efficiency in project implementation and performance. This thesis will examine cases where PMO is applied to SI, and suggest an effective way for its application.
The results of this thesis will not be sufficient to provide a standardized model for PMO application methods, yet I hope they serve as reference to businesses planning on implementing PMO.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 기업의 경영 환경은 고객 요구사항의 증가와 급속한 기술혁신으로 불확실성이 증가하고 있다. 기업은 경쟁에서 살아남기 위해서 새로운 시장과 고객을 창조해야 하고, 이에 중요 프로젝트에 사활을 거는 프로젝트 중심의 기업이 늘고 있다. 이러한 추세와 더불어 국내에서는 최근 컴퓨터 및 정보통신의 발전으로 인해 많은 기업에서 SI(System Integration) 프로젝트가 많아지고 그 중요성도 커지고 있다.
SI 프로젝트의 경우 특성상 프로젝트 관리의 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있으며, 프로젝트의 효율성 및 성과 향상을 위한 방안으로 PMO(Project Management Office)를 운영하는 사례가 늘고 있는 추세이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 PMO를 도입한 국내 SI 기업의 PMO 적용 사례를 알아보고, 효과적인 적용 방안을 제시하고자 한다.
본 논문의 결과가 PMO 적용 방안에 대한 표준화된 모델을 도출하였다고 보기는 어렵지만, PMO 도입을 추진하고 있거나 향후 도입할 계획을 가지고 있는 기업들이 참고할 수 있는 자료가 되기를 기대한다.
