그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동이 영아의 언어능력향상에 미치는 영향 = A Study of Integrative Language Activities Using Picture Books on Improvement of Young Children's Language Abilities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동이 영아의 언어이해력, 언어표현력, 언어창의성에 미치는 효과를 확인하고, 그 교육적 가치를 밝혀 영아교육 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 기초 자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다.
본 연구에서 설정한 연구가설은 다음과 같다.
가설 1. 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동은 영아의 언어이해력을 향상 시킬 것이다.
가설 2. 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동은 영아의 언어표현력을 향상 시킬 것이다.
가설 3. 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동은 영아의 언어창의성을 향상 시킬 것이다.
본 연구의 대상은 만2세 영아 14명이며 실험집단과 통제집단에 7명씩 무선배치 하였다. 실험집단에게는 5주간(10회)에 걸쳐 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동 프로그램을 적용하였으며, 통제집단은 그림책 읽기활동만 실시하였다.
영아의 언어능력을 측정하기 위해 사전, 사후 검사로는 이경화(2004)에 의해 개발된 검사를 사용하였다.
사전검사 결과는 동질성 확인을 위해, 사후 검사는 가설 검정을 위해 사용되었다. 통계처리 방법은 비모수검정 중 독립표본 Mann-Whitney 검정을 사용하였다.
본 연구의 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동 프로그램을 경험한 실험집단의 영아와 경험 하지 않은 통제 집단의 영아간의 언어이해력은 사후검사 비교에 있어 점수가 비슷하게 나와 통계적으로 유의미하지 않게 나타났다.
둘째, 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동 프로그램이 언어표현력을 높이는데 효과가 있었다. 실험집단과 통제집단의 사후검사 비교에 있어 실험집단의 점수가 높게 나와 영아의 언어표현력 향상에 효과가 있음이 확인되었다.
셋째, 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동 프로그램이 언어창의성을 높이는데 효과가 있었다. 실험집단과 통제집단의 사후검사 비교에 있어 실험집단의 점수가 높게 나와 영아의 언어창의성 향상에 효과가 있음이 확인되었다.
본 연구의 결과로 볼 때 그림책을 활용한 통합적 언어활동 프로그램은 영아의 언어능력 향상에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로 체계적인 언어활동 프로그램을 개발하여 교육현장에서 활성화 하여야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was to find out the effect of integrative language activities using picture books on young children's language comprehension, expression and creativity and to identify the educational value of such activities to provide the basic materials which can be used on the spot.
The hypotheses developed in this study are as follows:
Hypothesis 1. The integrative language activities using picture books will improve young children's language comprehension.
Hypothesis 2. The integrative language activities using picture books will improve young children's language expression.
Hypothesis 3. The integrative language activities using picture books will improve young children's language creativity.
The subjects of this study were 14 children of 2 years of age. 7 children were in the experimental group and 7 children were in the control group. The integrative language activities program using picture books was carried out for five weeks (10 class sessions) for the experimental group while only the picture books reading activities for the control group.
To measure the children's language abilities, the test method developed by KyungHwa Lee (2004) was used for pre and post tests.
The results of the pre test were used to identify homogeneity while the post test for hypotheses testing. The Mann-Whitney test was used for statistical process.
The major findings of this study are as follows:
First, the language comprehension scores of children in the experimental group were similar to that of the control group during the post test.
Second, the integrative language activities programs using picture books were effective on improving the language expression: During the post test comparison, scores of the experimental group were higher than the control group which indicates such programs' effectiveness on children's language expression.
Third, the integrative language activities programs using picture books were effective on improving the language creativity: During the post test comparison, scores of the experimental group were higher than the control group which indicates such programs' effectiveness on children's language creativity.
Based on the results of this study, I found out that the integrative language activities using picture books are effective on improving children's language abilities. Therefore, more systematic language activities programs should be developed and vitalized on the spot in the future.
