NIE학습이 초등학생의 학업성취도 및 사회과 학습태도에 미치는 영향

According to recent qualitative change in education, diverse teaching methods are being tried to grope for classroom innovation.
Changes in content and method of education are needed, where learners on themselves find problems and solve them, breaking from the conventional way of education. As an alternative, studying byusing newspaper(NIE) seems to be useful.
This research intended to make clear that how learning by using newspaper materials has influence upon the social studies and learning attitude of elementary students.
Established subjects for this are as follows.
First, does lessons using NEI have an effect over the studies achievement of social studies of elementaty school?
Second, does lessons using NIE have an influence upon the learning attitude of elementary school's social studies?
2 third-grade classes of E elementary school located in Taejeon were selected and divided into 2 groups, one was for experiment and the other for comparison.
After being practiced NIE-learning and lecture-type class by teacher, they were examined the learning effect through studies achievement test
Also, awareness about social studies, interest, satisfaction, and concern about local were examined through attitude test and test result were conducted through using SPSS ANCOVA program.
The results are as follows.
First, experiment group which was applied NIE-learning using newspaper showed
meaningful difference in achievement level compared to comparison group which took lecture-type class by teacher.
Second, experiment group which took NIE-learning using newspaper showed more
meaningful statistic difference in achievement level in terms of awareness of social studies, interest, satisfaction and concern about local than comparison group which had lecture-type class by teacher
Therefore, it is important in terms of inspiring learning attitude against social studies as well as raising studying achievement level to utilize newspaper materials for quality enhancement of learning
