The reform of records management law requires a new criteria scheme of records management based on business task and process. The records management criteria contains business explanation, preservation period, cause of arranging preservation period, opening infromation, access authority, keeping records or not. In this study, the case studies were conducted for the presidential secretary office and the Ministry of Science and Technology, to which the records management has already been applied. The objectives of this study are to investigate and analyze the records management criteria for a specific department of Daejeon metropolitan city. The result of this study exhibited that the adequately systemic arrangement of records management criteria was highly required to keep the consistency of records management and dynamically reflect the value change of business and records.
