The purpose of this paper is a study on effects of self-brand association on brand attachment by feeling/thinking products and high/low involvement situation.
This paper is investigated the relation between brand association and brand attachment. Furthermore, how brand attachment has an effect on brand long-term relationship. According to FCB Grid Model, four products - Anycall(mobile phone), CHANEL(bag), Juck Yum(toothpaste), beverage(POCARISWEAT) - were used to test relative effects of Brand association and brand attachment. This hypotheses are approved by regression, factor analysis and reliability analysis.
First, self-brand association has an effect on brand attachment and furthermore that affects brand long-term relationship. One of the brand association factor, self-compensation was more important to brand attachment than brand self-satisfaction.
Second, in case of low involvement product, self-compensation was more attractive to customer than self-satisfaction. In case of high involvement product, on the contrary, self-satisfaction was more attractive to customer than self-compensation.
Third, in case of thinking product, self-compensation has not correlation with customer's social status. At high/low involvement and feeling/thinking product investigation, one of brand attachment factor, adoptability was the most important factor in the willing to pay.
This experimental study will be a leading valuable research in long-term relationship between brand and customer.
