    <국문초록>

    본 논문은 3∼6세기 해남반도의 성격을 고고학적인 관점에서 연구해 보았다. 해남반도는 지리적인 여건과 고고학 유적의 분포에 따라 해남만 지역, 백포만 지역, 도암만 지역 등 모두 세 지역으로 구분하였다. 또 3∼6세기에 해당하는 유적을 유구와 유물의 검토를 토대로 Ⅰ기, Ⅱ기, Ⅲ기, Ⅳ기로 편년하였다. 그리고 지역별 특징, 대외관계와 변천양상 등을 통해 3∼6세기 해남반도의 성격을 밝혀보았다.
    먼저 3∼6세기 해남반도의 변화와 발전을 네 시기로 구분하여 설명하면 다음과 같다.
    Ⅰ기는 해남반도 서쪽 연안을 중심으로 형성되었던 철기문화가 백포만 지역, 해남만 지역과 도암만 지역 등 내륙 구릉으로 확산되는 시기이다. 이 시기의 연대는 3세기이다. 생활유구는 주거지와 토기가마, 패총이 확인된다. 주거지 구조의 변화는 원형계에서 방형계로의 평면형태 변화와 무주공식에서 사주식으로 주기둥 배치 변화, 부뚜막 연도는 ‘ㅣ’자형에서 ‘ㄱ’자형으로 변화가 관찰된다. 출토유물은 주거지 출토품으로 자비용기류가 대부분이며, 발형토기, 장란형토기, 시루, 단경호 등 타날문토기이다. 특히, 단경호 3형식은 1형식과 함께 3세기 후반대 주거지에서 일시적으로 확인되는데 철기시대에 형성되었던 낙랑→한반도 서남부지역→가야→왜와의 연안항로를 이용한 대외교류의 산물로 판단된다. 연안항로의 기항지 역할을 수행한 지역은 백포만 지역이다. Ⅱ기는 세 지역이 균형적으로 발전하는 시기로 연대는 4세기에 해당된다. 다만, 도암만 지역의 경우 생산기반력이 약해 타 지역에 비해 소규모 마을이 형성되었을 것으로 추정된다. 생활유구는 주거지만 확인된다. 주거지 구조는 소형에서 중형으로 규모가 변화되었으나 전 시기에 확립되었던 방형계의 평면형태, 사주식의 기둥배치, ‘ㄱ’자형 부뚜막 연도가 지속적으로 사용되었다. 묘제는 옹관묘와 토광묘가 함께 축조된 고분이 확인되었으며 매장주체부는 토광묘로 추정된다. 출토유물 중 옹관묘에 부장된 철정은 전기가야연맹체와의 대외교류에 의한 산물로 추정되며 기존에 형성되어 있던 연안항로가 지속적으로 이용되었던 것으로 판단된다. 연안항로의 기항지 역할을 주도적으로 수행한 지역은 백포만 지역으로 판단된다.
    Ⅲ기는 Ⅱ기와 동일한 지역별 발전양상이 확인되는 시기로 연대는 5세기에 해당된다. 생활유구는 주거지만 확인된다. 주거지의 구조는 중형 규모와 함께 대형의 규모가 출현하게 되며 방형계의 평면형태, 사주식의 기둥배치, ‘ㄱ’자형 부뚜막 연도가 지속적으로 사용된 시기이다. 묘제는 옹관묘와 토광묘가 함께 축조된 고분이 확인되며 매장주체부는 토광묘로 추정된다. 출토유물 중 주거지에서는 완, 유공광구소호 등 새로운 기종이 출현한다. 농암고분군, 갑길고분 옹관묘 출토 철정과 신금유적 18호 주거지 출토 개, 현산면 일평리 출토 고배와 개는 전기가야연맹체와의 대외교류를 통한 산물로 이해할 수 있으며 기존에 형성되어 있던 연안항로가 지속적으로 이용되었던 것으로 판단된다. 기항지 역할을 주도적으로 수행한 지역은 백포만 지역에 해당된다.
    Ⅳ기는 대외교류 중심지가 이동하는 시기에 해당된다. 전통적으로 이용되된 백포만 지역에서 6세기 초가 되면 도암만 지역으로 이동하였으며 6세기 중엽이 되면 다시 백포만 지역으로 이동된다. 생활유구는 현 자료에서 확인되지 않는다. 묘제는 석곽묘, 석실묘가 매장주체부로 확인된 고분이 조영되었다. 출토유물은 전 시기에 비해 다양한 기종과 무기류, 마구류의 부장이 확인된다. 용운고분군 2호분 석곽분과 분구 즙석, 외도고분군 석곽분과 부장유물인 삼각판혁철판갑, 성수동 고분의 분구 즙석, 조산고분의 현문구조 및 주칠, 용두리 고분과 장고봉고분의 석실분 및 전방후원형 분구 등 다양한 외래적 요소들이 비슷한 시기에 한정적으로 확인되었다. 이것은 대가야, 북구주 세력과의 대외교류에 의한 산물로 판단된다. 기존의 연안항로를 바탕으로 형성된 기항지의 역할에서 국제정세에 의한 외항지의 역할로 확대되었던 시기에 해당된다.
    3∼6세기 해남반도의 성격을 종합적으로 살펴보면 이 시기의 해남반도 주인공들의 실체는 한반도 서남부지역에 형성된 토착세력과 동일한 집단으로 판단된다. 이들은 서해와 남해를 잇는 연안항로의 지리적인 이점을 살려 기항지 역할을 주도적으로 수행하며 대외정보와 문화를 습득하였다. 이 지역은 6세기 전반에는 급변하는 국제정세를 발판으로 전통적 기항지 역할에서 더 확대된 외항지의 역할을 수행하였다. 또 이 지역은 6세기 중반 이후에 한반도 서남부지역과 같이 백제의 영역으로 편입되었던 것으로 판단된다.

    <Abstract>

    This thesis explores the characteristics of Haenam peninsula from the third century to the sixth century in archaeological view. Haenam peninsula can be divided into Haenam bay, Baekpo bay and Doam bay by geographical conditions and distribution of archaeological sites. Also, sites between the third century and the sixth century is divided into Period Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ according to the analysis of features and artifacts. Regional characteristics, foreign relations and the aspects of changes were considered in studying the Haenam peninsula between the third century and the sixth century.
    First of all, changes and developments in Haenam peninsula between the third century to the sixth century can be explained by dividing into four period as follow;
    First period is time of expansion of the Iron Age from the southern coast line to the Baekpo bay, the Haenam bay and the Doam bay area. The date of this period is 3rd century. Identified living features are dwelling sites, earthenware kilns and shell mounds. Several changes occurred to the dwelling sites during the first period. The dwellings changed from no post type to four-post type, its plane changed from round to square, and the shape of smoke road at the cooking fireplace changed from 'l' to 'ㄱ'. Most common artifacts found from the excavation were cooking wares, that is, beating patterned potteries such as bowls, jars, steamer and jar with short neck. Type Ⅲ jar with short neck appears only for a short period of time with typeⅠ appearing at the end of 3rd century. Jar with short neck probably reached Haenam peninsula following the path of Nagrang(樂浪)→ southwestern area of Korean peninsula → Gaya(加耶) → Wa(倭) through the costal route formed during the Iron Age. Baekpo bay area acted as the port of call in the costal route.
    Second period is around the 4th century when the three bay areas equally developed. Just Doam bay area had weak infrastructure and only small villages were formed. Dwelling sites are the only kind of living features found. Dwelling sites changed from small sized to middle sized, but it continued to be square plane, four pillars and 'ㄱ' shaped smoke road at cooking fireplace that are characteristics of the former period. The mounded tombs were mixture of jar coffin tomb and pit tomb, but main burial is the pit tomb. The iron plate found in jar coffin tomb is assumed to be from former Gaya political groups through the preexisting costal route. Baekpo bay area acted as the port of call of the costal route.
    Third period is about 5th century and similar on the regional development as the second period. Dwelling sites are the only kind of living features found. Location of the dwellings changed from hills to plains and mid size dwelling appeared with occasional large sized ones. Dwelling sites continued to be square plane, four pillars, and 'ㄱ' shaped smoke road of the cooking fireplace. The mounded tombs mixed with jar coffin tomb and pit tomb were found, but the main burial system is the pit tomb. Several changes are made in building a dwelling sites. New form of earthenwares such as tea bowls, small jars with big mouth and holes were found from dwelling sites. Cooking wares such as bowls, jars, steamers became bigger and the other artifacts became hardened. The iron plate found in the jar coffin tomb, the covers found at no.18 dwelling of Singeum site and the mounted dishes and covers found at Ilpyeong in Hyeonsan-myeon are assumed to be from exchanges with Sogaya(小加耶) through the preexisting costal route. Baekpo bay area acted as the port of call of the costal route.
    In the fourth period, at early 6th century, the center of trade moved from the Baekpo bay area to the Doam bay area, but by the mid 6th century, the center moved back to Backman bay area. Living features were not identified. Tombs are mainly stone lined tombs and stone chambers. Buried goods are more diverse compared to the previous periods with weapons and harnessry. Various foreign elements such as stone lined tomb and paved stone of mound at no. 2 tomb of Yongun site, stone lined tomb and triangle iron plate connected by leather at Wedo site, paved stone of mound at Seongsudong mounded tomb, entrance door structure and red painting at Josan mounded tomb, stone chamber and keyhole type mound at Yongduri mounded tomb and Janggobong mounded tomb of similar time were found at a limited area. These are the result of exchanges with Daegaya(大加耶) and North Kyusyu power. Based on preexisting costal routes, ports expended its use from a port of call to a outport of foreign lines.
    Next, synthetically thinking the characteristics of Haenam peninsula from the third century to the sixth century, dwellers of Haenam peninsula were probably native people formed in southwestern region. They acquired foreign culture by taking advantage of geographical position between West sea and South sea, and acted as a port of call. Also, in the beginning of 6th century, with drastic change in international situation, Haenam peninsula developed into an outport from merely being a port of call. It is thought that Haenam peninslua incorporated into Baekjae along with the southwestern region of Korea after the mid 6th century.
