본 연구의 목적은 아동기의 초등학교 학생을 대상으로 그들 부모의 양육행동과 언어적 상호작용 변인과 아동의 리더십과의 관계를 조사하여, 초기환경 속에서 리더십을 자극하는 부모역할의 중요성을 밝히고자 한다.
본 연구의 대상은 서울특별시, 광주광역시 지역의 초등학교 5학년 아동 287명을 대상으로 그들의 부모와 그들 자신에 대해 질문지법을 이용하여 조사하였다. 연구문제의 분석을 위해 상관관계분석과 다변량분산분석을 실시하였다. 이를 위한 자료분석은 SPSSWIN 12.0프로그램을 활용하여 처리하였다.
본 연구문제에 따른 주요결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 부모의 양육행동과 리더십과의 상관관계를 알아본 결과 아버지와 어머니의 세 가지 양육행동은 아동의 리더십과 의미있는 관계가 있었다.
둘째, 부모의 언어통제유형과 리더십과의 상관관계를 알아본 결과 아버지와 어머니의 세 가지 언어통제유형은 동일하게 리더십의 하위요소에 영향을 주고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
마지막으로, 부모의 양육행동과 언어통제유형의 상호작용효과가 자녀의 리더십에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과, 아버지와 어머니의 경우 거의 일치하는 결과를 나타냈다.
이를 통해, 부모의 양육행동 및 언어통제유형과 아동의 리더십과의 관계성을 알 수 있었고, 또한, 정적인 관계를 나타내는 변인과 부적인 관계를 나타내는 변인도 알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to survey elementary students in their childhood on the relation of their parents’ rearing behavior and linguistic interaction with their leadership and to determine the importance of parents’ role in stimulating children’s leadership in their childhood.
The subjects of this study were 287 fifth graders at elementary schools in Seoul and Gwangju and their parents, and surveys were conducted using questionnaires. Parents’ rearing behavior was measured using the rearing behavior scale for children developed by Park Yeong?ae (1995) and revised by Kim Mun?jeong (2003), and parents’ language control type was determined using the questionnaire developed by Gumperz (1973) and revised by Lee Gyeong?hee (1993) and Lee Jong?heon (2000). Children’s leadership was measured using ‘Leadership Diagnosis Tool’ developed by Korean Education Development Institute (2003). Collected data were analyzed through correlation analysis and MANOVA using SPSS Windows 12.0.
The results of this study according to the research questions are as follows.
First, as to the correlation between parents’ rearing behavior and children’s leadership, significant correlation was observed between three types of parents’ rearing behavior and children’s leadership. Father’s and mother’s rejective and punitive rearing behavior showed a negative correlation with children’s leadership, and their warm and receptive rearing behavior showed a positive correlation. However, a slight difference was observed in permissive laissez?faire rearing behavior. That is, father’s permissive laissez?faire rearing behavior was in a negative correlation with ability to recreate and ability to command among the sub?factors of leadership, but mother’s permissive laissez?faire rearing behavior did not show any correlation with leadership.
Second, as to the correlation between parents’ language control type and children’s leadership, all the three types of father’s and mother’s language control affected the sub?factors of children’s leadership. Father’s and mother’s positional language control and character?oriented language control showed a positive correlation with children’s leadership. However, father’s and mother’s directive language control showed a positive relation with the sense of purpose among the sub-factors of leadership.
Lastly, as to the interaction effect between parents’ rearing behavior and their language control type on children’s leadership, in case of independent variables that do not affect most of the sub?factors of leadership, both father’s and mother’s permissive laissez?faire behavior and directive language control showed an interaction effect. On the contrary, in case of independent variables that had an interaction effect on all the sub?factors of leadership, interaction effect was observed between father’s and mother’s rejective and punitive behavior and positional language control and between their warm and receptive behavior and positional language control.
In conclusion, this study found that parents’ rearing behavior and language control type are correlated with children’s leadership and that there are variables affecting children’s leadership positively or negatively.
