This study aimed to examine the structural relationships between brand images, perceived service quality, customer satisfaction, trust, and loyalty. More specifically, this research was to investigate the effect of brand images and perceived service quality on customer satisfaction, and the effect of customer satisfaction and trust on loyalty in FoodService franchise industry. For these purposes, the author developed several hypotheses. The data was collected from 281 franchisees.
To test unidimensionality and nomological validity of the measures of each construct we employed scale refinement procedure. The results of reliability test with Cronbach's α’s and confirmatory factor analysis warranted unidimensionality of the measures for each construct. In addition, nomological validity of the measures was warranted from the result of correlation analysis.
The data were analyzed with structural equation modeling with LISREL 8.51 W and SPSS Win/PC 7.0. The result of the overall model analysis appeared as follows: χ2 = 167.30, df=62, p=.00, GFI=.92, AGFI=.88, RMSR=.04, NFI=.90, CFI=.93. Since the result of the overall model analysis demonstrated a good fit, we could further analyze our data.
The results of this study are as follows:
First, brand images had significantly positive effect on customer satisfaction. Second, perceived service quality had significantly positive effect on customer satisfaction. Third, customer satisfaction had significantly positive effect on trust. Fourth, customer satisfaction had significantly positive effect on loyalty. Finally, trust had significantly positive effect on loyalty. At the end of this paper, limitations, further research directions, and implications are suggested.
