Today, the more powerful influence enterprises exert, the more fulfilled society's expectations should be and the more emphasized the ethics of an enterprise becomes. After the IMF crisis, (in competitive circumstances based on global standards in opposition to foreign companies), business ethics became a compulsory matter of survival in becoming a global competitive power.
According to Trevino & Nelson, in organizations where employees are dedicated to their work, ethical support is possible and the value of these enterprises will increase. Research indicates most enterprises show a very positive attitude to the contribution of ethics management by 99.2% of total responses (based on researching conducted by 350 members of the Federation of the Korean Industries, 2007) and observes that ethics management is a way to help them.
Therefore, it can be seen that business ethics does not only equate to added value, but is also essential to a corporation and needs to be well managed.
The purpose of this paper is to promote ethics management by way of the following steps: 1) A review of theoretical consideration and antecedent studies; 2) Concrete and demonstrable research of ethics levels and ethics consciousness considered by the members of various enterprises; 3) Offering an opportunity to monitor the ethics management of enterprises, and 4) Promotion of ethics management, lacking to some degree.
This paper is comprised of four chapters. More specifically, it provides the following subjects: 1) Introduction, outlining the purpose of this study and the structure of the paper; 2) The theoretical background of ethics levels and ethics consciousness; 3) The formation of solid research, and 4) Conclusion – a summarization of the study results and primary limitations, including study direction hereafter.
The study model provides ethics consciousness on the company itself and supervisors and colleagues within enterprises, and is designed to investigate illustrative measurements of ethics levels of employees, and its relative influence on same.
According to antecedent studies performed by Valentine and Barnett; Valentine and Fleischman; Victor; Culled; SangYoung Ryu and DongGyu An, a connection is inferred between the ethics environment and ethics consciousness of employees, and is established by verifying the relative effects of the given variables. Individual characters and ethical surroundings are classified as variables and illustratively analyzed; this brings about the conclusion of ethics consciousness.
Results of these surveys suggest that 33.9% out of 245 respondents rank "Sincerity" as the most important work ethic, which brings about the following conclusions:
hypothesis 1-1. The longer employees work, the higher their ethics consciousness is ⇒ adopted
hypothesis 1-2. The more educated employees are, the higher their ethics consciousness is ⇒ partly adopted
hypothesis 1-3. ethics consciousness of regular employees is higher than those of part-time employees is ⇒ adopted
hypothesis 1-4. Employees educated on ethics show higher ethics consciousness ⇒ adopted
hypothesis 2-1. The more aware of ethical atmosphere employees are, the higher their ethics consciousness is ⇒ adopted
hypothesis 2-2. The more aware of ethical standard of their boss employees are, the higher their ethics consciousness is ⇒ adopted
hypothesis 2-3. The more aware of ethical standard of their colleague employees are, the higher their ethics consciousness is ⇒ rejected
From here on, enterprises should regard ethics as the first priority to all business relations, to pursue clear, impartial and rational business operations and to grow into first class enterprises and become acceptable to all customers, employees, stockholders and enterprises through ethics management.
