Reasons of juvenile drinking and smoking can not be judged to be simply an personal factor, but a complex factor including not being able to adapt to school, curiosity in prohibited items, culture of their generation, the overall atmosphere of society, and stress from family difficulties, parents' unconcern or excessive expectation, low grades.
For these students to have a physically and mentally healthy and improved life, an enhanced environment and specialized social welfare service are required.
In a modern society, the school is officially and inofficially the most influential group in the socializing process of juveniles. Therefore a distinct preventive approach on juvenile drinking and smoking from schools which are suitable for students will be effective. Juvenile drinking and smoking and juvenile misconduct will be able to be prevented by analyzing the cause that connects the student, family, and society to figure the cause of juvenile drinking and smoking, and isolating the connection through appropriate interventions. To achieve this, the induction of a specialized system of the school's social welfare personnel is required.
Along with the specialized intervention, families must strive to form a new and healthy family relation through parental education, family counseling, and must observe the students thoughts and concerns with interest to each individual student, instead of just being sensitive to the student's grades.
To prevent and exterminate juvenile drinking and smoking, efforts from the social level is also required. In short, society must endlessly educate the side effects of drinking and smoking through mass media advertisement, strongly restrict the sales of alcohol and cigarettes to juveniles, and enlarge the management of juvenile cultural facilities for healthy environment.
Most important of all, our society must show warm love and affection so that juveniles can grow uprightly.
