축제 가면을 활용한 헤어아트 발상

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As diversity of visual culture is included in mainstream, various trial for ‘hair art’, which emphasizes artistic formative nature of beauty culture, also is increasing it's influence on field and academic world. Desire for composite communication due to deconstruction of genre in art stirs up new momentum in formative nature of beauty culture. This concerns are progressed within stake not only beauty industries and related academic circles but also surrounding cultures deeply. Therefore, it is raising as a pending problem to researchers that help members who engage in related genres on theoretical understanding. Academic analyses on an example of artistic formative works in beauty culture, hair art creation, are progressed actively beginning from 'hair art study using feather'(Park, Haegyung,2006), ‘formative nature study in hair art using traffic line (Ahn, Moongyung, 2006, 'minimalism study expressed in hair art (Choi, Eunsook, 2006). Above preceding studies joined two fields, art trend and works , advanced and showed their performances. However, study on mental state for decoration treated as a social phenomenon is not progressed so far. So this study considered preceding articles in desires for decoration of human beings with masks, the one of social phenomenon and progressed work creation through the theoretical use.
The necessity of this study could be summarized followings. First, as the demand for visual culture on formative nature of beauty culture, study on ‘hair art, the another field of hair focused on artistic aspect’ has academic meaning corresponding contemporary demand.
Next, the channel of preceding studies are confined in art trend and material study, so study centered on decoration psychology and the orientation has the meaning for the expansion of study field.
Therefore, the objectives of the study are as follows. Firstly, I study and find the formative the function of hair art based on theoretical consideration, and try artistic field expansion for the design under definition of practical function in beauty culture. Secondly, the creation of hair art works, which based on that.
This study used planning for understanding of human desire and cultural identity of masks in festival. To understand theoretical background of masque, I considered preceding studies such as journals, theses for degree, book and information on the internet, and used image data such as publisher of exhibition and internet image files for understanding theories. I confined cases of masque to Germany, Venice, and masque play in the Movie, 'King and the Clown'. Because Germany Villingen and Venice Carnival are founded upon the historicity and international receptiveness, and Korean masque play could be presented as a case to show it's traditional historicity and social refelection.
The contents of the study are as follows:
First, I considered the meaning of mask carnival by studying for concepts and history of mask, carnival, and mask carnival.
Next, considering examples of implied desire in mask and it's practical use of formative art, I examined how psychological desires could be used for art through the medium, mask.
Third, I searched how these masks have been expressed in hair art, and the possibility expansion in which meaning.
Lastly, based on above theoretical background, I promoted the idea of hair art, expressed production method and theme of works, and then expressed hypocritical desire.
I produced the presented works of silicon with painting and decorated hair motives, especially concentrated my efforts on mask painting from new art's pattern of ice carnival mask).
The main current of used colors is black and white, the basic color of mask, to produce masks with comprehensive meaning and the type is embossed sculpture to show fragmentary impression of borrowing image.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

시각 문화적 다양성이 주류적 위치에 편입되면서 미용의 미술적 조형성을 강조한 ‘헤어아트’에 대한 다양한 시도 역시 현장과 학계를 중심으로 그 영향력을 키워가고 있다. 예술의 장르 해체로 인한 복합적 소통의 욕구가 미용의 조형성에 까지 새로운 바람을 불러 일으키고 있는 것이다. 이러한 관심은 미용업계와 관련 학계 내에서 뿐만 아니라 주변 문화와의 이해관계 속에서 폭넓게 전개되는 양상을 보이고 있다. 때문에 연관 장르에 종사하는 구성원들의 이론적 이해를 돕는 것은 연구자들에게 현안적인 작업으로 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 미용의 미술적 조형작업의 일례인 헤어아트 창작 작품에 대한 학문적 해석은 박해경(2006)의 ‘깃털 장식을 이용한 헤어아트 연구’, ‘안문경(2006)의 ‘동선을 이용한 헤어아트 조형성 연구’, 최은숙(2006)의 ‘헤어아트에 나타난 미니멀리즘 연구’ 등을 시작으로 관련 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 상기의 선행연구들은 예술사조와 작품의 소재연구라는 두 분야를 아우르며 진척되어 그 성과를 나타냈으나 사회적 현상으로서의 치장에 대한 심리를 다룬 연구는 아직까지 진행된 바가 없다. 때문에 본 연구에서는 가면이라는 사회적 현상 속에 나타나는 인간의 치장에 대한 욕구를 중심으로 선행논문을 고찰하고 그 이론적 응용을 통하여 작품창작을 진행하였다.
본 연구의 필요성은 두 가지로 요약되는데 첫째, 미용의 조형성에 대한 시각 문화적 요구가 다양해짐에 따라 ‘미술적 측면에서 바라본 헤어의 또 다른 영역인 헤어아트’에 대한 연구는 동시대적 요구에 부합하는 학문적 의의를 지닌다.
둘째, 선행된 연구의 계통이 예술사조와 소재연구에 국한되어 있으므로 변장심리와 그 발상을 중심으로 연구함은 연구의 영역확장에 의의가 있다.
따라서 연구의 목적은 첫째, 이론적 고찰을 토대로 헤어아트의 조형적 가능성을 연구, 발굴하여 미용이 가진 실용적 직능으로서의 정의 위에 디자인으로서의 미적 영역 확장을 시도하며 둘째, 이를 토대로 미술적 조형작업인 헤어아트 작품을 창작함에 있다.
본 연구에서는 축제가면의 문화적 정체성과 인간 욕망의 이해를 도모하여 헤어아트 창작의 모티브로 활용하였다. 가면축제의 이론적 배경을 이해하기 위해 학회지논문, 학위논문, 단행본, 인터넷 정보 등의 선행연구를 고찰하였으며 이론의 이해를 도울 수 있는 이미지 자료는 전시 도록 및 인터넷 이미지 파일 등을 활용하였다. 가면축제의 사례는 독일, 베니스, 영화 ‘왕의 남자’에 등장하는 탈놀이의 가면축제로 한정하였는데 이는 독일의 필링엔과 베니스의 카니발 축제가 가지는 역사성과 국제적 수용성에 근거하였으며 한국의 탈놀이 문화는 고유의 역사성과 사회적 수렴의 기능을 드러낼 수 있는 사례로 제시할 수 있음에 근거하였다.
연구의 내용을 정리하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 가면과 축제 그리고 가면축제의 개념 및 역사를 연구함으로 가면축제가 사회 속에서 가지는 의미를 알아보았다.
둘째, 가면이 내포하는 욕망과 이에 대한 조형예술적 응용의 예를 살펴봄으로 인간의 심리적 욕구가 가면이라는 매체를 통하여 어떻게 예술적으로 응용될 수 있는지 살펴보았다.
셋째, 이러한 가면이 헤어아트 속에서는 어떻게 표현되어 왔으며 또 어떠한 의미 확장의 가능성을 지니는지를 알아보았다.
넷째, 상기의 이론적 배경을 뿌리로 하여 헤어아트 발상을 도모하고 작품의 제작 방법과 주제를 제시함으로 헤어아트 속에 드러나는 가면적 욕망을 표현하였다.
제시된 작품들은 실리콘 가면을 제작하여 패인팅하고 헤어모티브를 데코레이션 하는 방법으로 진행되었으며 특별히 베네치아 카니발 마스크(venice carnival mask)의 아르누보적 문양을 응용한 마스크 패인팅에 주력하였다.
사용된 색채는 가면의 기본색인 검정과 흰색에 주조를 두어 보다 포괄적인 의미의 가면을 제작하고자 하였으며 부조적인 형태를 취하여서 차용된 이미지의 단편적인 인상을 주도록 의도하였다.
