This study is investigate designed to know how group career counseling program for the middle school students in the exploration stage of career development affects their career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity.
The hypotheses were that 1) career exploration group counseling will have a positive effect on one's attitude toward career maturity and 2) improve career decision self-efficacy.
The career exploration group counseling program consisting of information and procedures for career maturity was applied 10 times to 20 middle students, intending to test how the program has an effect on career decision self-efficacy and career maturity.

ANCOVA was applied to the data collected from this experiment, using SPSS/WIN program.
There were no differences between experimental group and control group before applying group counseling for career exploration, but after applying the program, the experimental group showed more positive response in career maturity than the control group did.

In short, the career exploration group counseling for career maturity, which enables career decision-making through self-recognition and the understanding of the world of works and jobs, was highly significant and effective for the middle school students in the exploration stage of career development.

In interpreting and applying the results of this study, the following few limitations should be considered.
First, since participation in this group counseling is limited to a specific middle school, the results of this study cannot be generalized to all students. Thus, a career guidance and counseling program fit for should be applied in consideration of regional differences between urban and rural areas.
Second, career exploration group counseling should be constantly and successively applied rather than instantly or temporarily to be effective. Since effects right after applying the program were proved, it is difficult to conclude if they last for a short time or a long time. Thus, further researchs for the continuity of effects should be followed.
Third, since the contents of career exploration program currently used at career education fields are mostly composed of similar contents, limiting programs to be applied by stage every year to those middle school students in career development, an various career exploration group counseling programs for each group of middle school students should be developed by level.

Despite such limitations, the career exploration group counseling can find its significance in enhancing their value of life by enabling the middle school students in exploration stage to choose their career in a rational manner through self-recognition and the understanding of the world of works and jobs.

Thus, given that the number of students who can use the programs provided by counseling centers or institutes for young people is highly limited in the current school circumstances, various career exploration group counseling programs should be developed to enhance young people's career maturity.

For such program development and application and further research follow-up studies, the researcher should note the following proposals based on the results of this study. First, career exploration group counseling programs for middle school students should be constantly provided during the whole curriculum rather than temporarily. Second, in addition to career exploration program development, the expertness of teachers should be improved by educating teachers for career capable of applying programs and providing them with various training programs for career.
