국문 초록 (Abstract)

<만분가>는 매계 조위(1454~1503)가 연산군 4년 무오사화에 연루되면서 유배되어 전라도 순천에서 지은 가사이다. 국한문혼용체로 되어 있으며, 유배가사의 효시 작품으로 후대 유배가사 형성에 많은 영향을 끼친 작품이다. 하지만 유배가사의 효시라는 문학사적 의의가 작지 않음에도 그 동안의 작품 연구에서는 주제, 형식, 사상, 창작 배경, 후대 유배가사와의 영향관계 등에만 치우쳐 왔다. 본고에서는 이러한 면을 고려하여 <만분가>의 작품 구조와 형상화 방식에 대한 연구를 통해 갈등 양상을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 그리하여 2장에서는 작품을 창작하게 된 동기를 작가 생애와 정치, 사회적 배경을 알아봄으로써 파악하여 본다.
그리고 3장에서는 <만분가>의 구조를 알아보고, 그 구조를 형상화하는 방식을 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 먼저 <만분가>의 화자는 남성 화자와 여성 화자가 이원화되어 설정되어 있음을 알 수 있다. 작자의 세상에 대한 발분지정을 드러낼 때는 남성 화자의 목소리를 내었고, 임금에 대한 연군지정을 드러낼 때는 여성 화자의 목소리를 내어 화자의 감정을 효과적으로 드러내는 장치가 된다.
그리고 공간의 이동은 화자가 인식하는 현실과 이상의 관계에 따라 공간이 천상계와 지상계로 대립하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 유배를 온 것을 천상계에서 지상계로 적강한 것으로 설정하여 끊임없이 천상계로 돌아가고자 하는 화자의 모습을 살펴볼 수 있다. 3장 마지막 절은 <만분가>의 표현상의 특징으로서, 첫 번째는 전고 활용을 통한 작자의 억울함과 결백을 호소하는 내용을 알아보며, 두 번째의 특징으로 자연물에 화자의 감정을 이입시켜 갈등의 상황을 조금이나마 정화시키려는 의도도 살펴볼 수 있다.
4장에서는 <만분가>의 갈등 양상을 갈등의 원인, 갈등의 토로, 갈등의 해결이라는 점에서 나누어 살펴본다. 먼저 갈등의 원인으로는 전적으로 외부적인 원인에 의해 유배를 오게 되어서 자아의 비극적인 상황을 인식하게 되는 과정이다. 그리고 본격적으로 지상계에서 겪는 갈등을 토로하게 된다. 그 갈등은 정적과의 갈등, 현실과 자아의 이상이 대립하게 되면서 겪는 외적 갈등과 심리적인 불안과 절망을 느끼게 되는 내적 갈등으로 나누어 파악할 수 있다. 하지만 이러한 갈등이 끝내는 해결되지 못하게 됨으로써 자아는 현실에 체념하게 된다는 것을 알 수 있다.
5장에서는 <만분가>의 문학사적 의의를 알아보았다. 유배가사의 효시 작품으로 후대 유배가사에 많은 영향을 주었는데, 특히 여성화자의 설정으로 인한 연군의식의 관습화와 적강구조는 유배가사의 전형이 되는 것을 알아보도록 하겠다.
