자연친화 개념에 의한 테이블스타일링 연출에 관한 작품연구 : 테이블디자인 작품을 중심으로 = A Study on Table Styling by Concept for Nature re-cycle : Focus on the Works with Table Design

국문 초록 (Abstract)

보릿고개 시절 흰 쌀밥 한 그릇이 최고의 진수성찬으로 꼽히던 때가 있었다. 보릿고개를 겪은 지 오십년 만에 우리의 밥상은 쌀밥에 5찬 이상이 나오는 상차림이 되었고, 21세기 현대인들의 흰 쌀밥 한 그릇은 더 이상의 진수성찬이 아니게 되었다. 따라서 오늘날 현대인들은 ‘어떻게 사느냐, 무엇을 어떻게 입느냐, 무엇을 어떻게 먹느냐?’ 에 따라 삶의 가치 기준이 정해지며 개개인의 생활양식(Life Style) 이 하나의 트렌드로 자리 잡아 가고 있다. 현대인들은 식사를 ‘먹는다’라는 1차원적 의미보다는 인간적 감성 모티브에 먹는 것을 가미하여 공간적, 심미적, 환경적, 사회적으로 식문화(食文化)를 창조해 가는 하나의 트렌드로 만들어 가고 있다.
이런 문화적 경향을 통해 먹는 밥과 반찬 그리고 식탁과 함께 식공간의 중요성이 부각 되고 있으며, 현대인들은 자연스럽게 식생활과 연관하여 식공간에 대한 관심으로 이어져 있는 것이다. 이런 문화적 변화에 발맞춰 식탁위에 음식이 놓이고, 사람들이 모여서 식사하고, 식사시간에만 존재하는 공간이라는 너무나 평범한 것들을 평범하지 않도록, 평범하지 않은 것들을 평범하게 보여주는 연출과 표현방법을 디자인하는 새로운 테이블아트(Table Art), 테이블 디자인(Table Design) 이라는 영역이 생겨났고, 따라서 본 논문에서는 이 새로운 영역에 대하여 본 연구자의 접근방법에 의해서 이론적인 관점과 작품들을 통한 개념을 제시하고자 한 것이다.
이런 식공간 연출에 대한 관심이 높아지는 이유는 시각적 요소만이 아니라 환경적 요인이 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 산업혁명 이후 계속되는 경제적, 사회적 발전으로 인해, 심각한 공해와 빈부격차로 인한 사회적 문제와 생태계 역행, 변조된 유전인자, 파괴된 오존층 등 자연에서 얻어지는 모든 자원에 대한 불안한 미래의 두려움에 대한 반사적인 보호본능에서 비롯된 것이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 환경적 문제들은 인간들로 하여금 본연의 자연을 다시금 생각하게 했고, 그 결과 현세기의 생활양식은 라이프스타일이라는 용어를 만들어 내면서 자연으로 최대한 복귀할 수 있는 방법들을 찾는 것으로 변화하는 양상을 보이고 있는 것이다.
본 논문에서는 자연을 주제로 한 트렌드를 표현하고자 여러 가지 식공간에 대해연출을 시도해 본 결과들을 작품으로 제시하였고, 이런 자연주제의 트렌드에 호흡하는 현대인은 더 이상의 역동적이고 하이테크, 패스트, 퀵을 원치 않으며, 오히려 아날로그 시대를 동경하며 로우테크, 아날로그, 슬로우 시대의 개념과 주제에 중요한 의미를 찾는 과정으로 본 논문의 내용을 서술한 것이다.
현재 식문화에서 화두로 떠오른 슬로우(Slow)의 의미는 단순히 ‘천천히’의 차원을 넘어 패스트‘퀵’의 가치관 속에서 망가지고 왜곡된 현대인의 심성과 자연환경, 라이프스타일과 가치관으로부터 인간성 회복을 목표로 재구축하자는데 두고 있다. 자연과 슬로우는 읽어버린 인간 본연의 가치와 여유로움을 새롭게 되찾으려는 사회적 이슈(Issue)인 내추럴리즘(Naturalism)의 의미로 표명할 수 있다. 본 논문에서의 내추럴리즘은 디자인적 요소에 있어서 리사이클(Recycle)의 개념을 이용하여 선진기술과 환경보전 사이의 시너지 작용을 찾아 미래 디자인의 트렌드를 예고하고 있는 것과 같이 본 논문에서도 미래지향적인 식문화 및 식공간의 문화를 자연친화적인 관점으로 유도하고자 하는 궁극적인 목적이 된 것이다.
이렇듯 현대인들이 자연에 대한 동경과 인간내면의 휴머니즘(Humanism)을 간직하고, 미래 디자인을 예측하며, 앞으로 다가올 미래의 쾌적한 행복을 대비하고 있는 것처럼 본 논문의 내용도 21세기의 라이프스타일 디자인(Life Style Design)에 대해 예측하고, 자연과 인간의 휴머니즘을 강조하며, 문화적 흐름과 같이 하는 트렌드를 참고하여 거기서 추출된 디자인적 요소를 풀어내는 과정으로 전개한 것이다.
앞으로의 미래는 아무도 예측할 수 없다. 그 미래를 예측하는 것은 우리의 큰 과제이며, 그 과제의 해결책 또한 우리가 찾아야 할 것이다. 따라서 본 논문과 본 연구자가 요구하는 목적은 결론적으로 우리와 같은 인간이 풍요롭고 행복한 미래를 위해 할 수 있는 최소한의 양식인 자연주의와 친환경으로 식문화 공간을 개선해야 한다는 것이다. 잘 먹은 식사가 자연을 지킬 수 있다는 역설적인 문제를 다시금 의미해 보는 계기를 본 연구자의 논문을 통해서 이해될 수 있게 식공간 연출작품을 제시한 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the farm hardship period, one bowel of cooked rice was the richest viands. After 50 years from such farm hardship period, our dining table is full of more than five side dishes with the rice. The 21st century’s modern people don’t think that one bowel of the rice is the rich viands any more. Accordingly, the standard of life value has been specified and the individual life style is developed as one trend depending on ‘how do modern people live?, What do they wear?, and What do they eat?’. Modern people have made one trend which creates the eating culture socially and spatially, aesthetically and environmentally by adding the eating thing in the human emotional motive not the single-dimensional meaning of ‘eating’.
Through such cultural tendency, an importance of dining space with the rice, side dish and dining table has been stressed. Modern people are interested in the dining space connecting with the eating habits naturally. The new Table Art which designs the dining atmosphere with the new atmosphere and designs the new expression method was formed according such cultural change. That is, the area of the table design has been created. Accordingly, this study is intended to present the theoretical viewpoint and the concept through works of art on the new area by the author’s approach method.
A reason why the dining atmosphere has been highly interested is because the environmental factor plays the important role as well as a visual factor. That is, it comes from the social problem caused by a serious pollution by economic and social development continued after the Industrial Revolution and a gap between the rich and the poor and a reflective protective instincts on fear of uneasy future related to all resources from the nature such as the reverse movement of ecosystem, changed genetic factor, destroyed ozone layer. Such environmental problems made human beings think the nature again. As the result, the living style of the present century made the terminology of life style and show that it tends to return to the nature.
In this study, the results of attempting many dining atmospheres to express the trend with the nature were presented in the works. Modern people who follow such nature-focused trend don’t want ‘dynamic’, ‘high-tech’, ‘fast’, and ‘quick’ any more. They yearn from the analog era. Hence, this study describes the process that these people search the important meaning of the concept and subject of ‘Low tech’, ‘analog’, and ‘slow’ era.
The meaning of ‘Slow’ in the present eating culture, is intended to recover the humanism from the modern people’s distorted and destroyed mind, natural environment, life style and viewpoint in the viewpoint of ‘Fast’ and ‘Quick’ over the concept of ‘Slow’. Nature and ‘Slow’ is expressed as the meaning of naturalism, the social issue which newly searches the lost human nature’s value and composure. Naturalism in this study is ultimately aimed at leading the future-oriented eating culture and dining atmosphere with the nature-friendly viewpoint as it predicts the future design trend by searching the synergy effect between the advanced technology and environmental preservation using the concept of Recycle in the design factor.
Thus, as modern people keep earning for the nature and the human’s internal humanism, predict the future design and prepare for the coming future’s pleasant happiness, the study predicts the 21st century’s life style design and stresses the nature and human’s humanism, and develops as the process which solves the extracted design factor by referring the trend with the cultural flow.
No one can predict the coming future. Predicting the future is our big task and we must search its solution. Accordingly, it is requested that the human beings must improve the eating culture space with the naturalism-friendly environment for the happy future. Through this study, the eating atmosphere is presented to understand the meaning of paradoxical problem that the good eating can protects the nature.
