성범죄자의 MMPI Profile 특성 연구 = (The)Study on the Characteristics of Sexual Offenders Based on MMPI Profiles

The purpose of this study is to find out the marks from the male sexual offenders who are in prison by checking their MMPI Profiles and to find a reasonable way to correct their behaviors.

This study was tested to 173 male prisoners who are accused for sexual offences located in Suwon, An yang and in Seoul prison. We compared to the prisoner's MMPI T-score's average points, standard deviation and their sub scale from the average standards. We also anaylized the prisoner's social populational characteristics, the constituent family members's characteristics, a type of the crime's characteristics according to the MMPI Profiles to find out if there is any other differences between detail crimes.

Now, Here's the following results.
First, the Prisoner's MMPI Profiles results were different from the average standards like the K scale from the reasonable scale and the D, Si, Hy, Pd, Pt scales in the clinic scale.

Second, there was more differences from the L scale in the variable age and the D, Pa, Pt, Sc, Si scales in the variable academic career according to the MMPI Profile that was based on the social populational characteristic way.

Third, the Pa, Pt scale in the variable aspect of parents and the K, Mf, Pa scales in the variable state of marriage came out different from the MMPI Profile result based on the constituent family members's characteristic.

Fourth, the MMPI Profile results in a type of the crime's characteristic also came out different. the D, Ma, Si scales in the variable name of a crimes and the Ma scale in the variable prison term plus the Mf scale appeared different in the variable number of criminal record.

The last, by anaylizing the prisoners using the MMPI Profiles and the other 13 sub scales the correctness came out about 53%. in addition the case of sexual offence came out a high rate of 86% but in the rape, burglary rape and the particular rape came out low by 13.9%, 20.8% and 39.4%.

This study reached out more than any other sexual crime related study by investigating only sexual offenders and using the MMPI to find out their personality. We are also hoping to make further study to find out the sexual offenders psychologic reasons of their behaviors.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 성범죄로 형이 확정되어 형집행 중에 있는 남성수형자들을 대상으로 MMPI Profile 특성을 분석해보았으며, 이들에 대한 효과적인 교정처우 방안의 기초적 자료를 제공하고 규명하는데 주된 목적이 있다.
본 연구의 대상은 2006년 7-11월 사이에 서울지방교정청 산하의 수원구치소, 안양교도소 및 서울구치소에서 성범죄로 형이 확정되어 형집행 중인 남성수형자 173명이었다. 대조군(일반남성규준집단)과 연구대상군의 MMPI T점수 평균과 표준편차를 비교하였으며, 하위척도 결과도 비교하였다. 또한 연구대상군의 인구사회적 특성, 가족구성 특성, 범죄유형 특성에 따른 MMPI Profile을 분석하였으며, MMPI Profile에 따른 세부죄명(성범죄 유형)에 대해 판별분석을 실시하여 유의한 차이가 있는지를 평가하였다.
본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 연구대상군은 대조군과는 다른 MMPI Profile 유형을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 타당도 척도에서는 K척도가 차이를 보였고, 임상척도에서는 D척도, Si척도, Hy척도, Pd척도, Pa척도, Pt척도에서 유의한 차이가 발견되었다.
둘째, 연구대상군의 인구사회적 특성에 따른 MMPI Profile을 분석한 결과, 연령 변수는 L척도에서, 최종학력 변수는 F척도, D척도, Pa척도, Pt척도, Sc척도, Si척도에서 유의한 차이가 발견되었다.
셋째, 연구대상군의 가족구성 특성에 따른 MMPI Profile을 분석한 결과, 부모양태 변수는 Pa척도, Pt척도에서, 결혼상태 변수는 K척도, Mf척도, Pa척도에서 유의한 차이가 발견되었다.
넷째, 연구대상군의 범죄유형 특성에 따른 MMPI Profile을 분석한 결과, 세부죄명 변수는 D척도, Ma척도, Si척도에서, 확정형기 변수는 Ma척도에서 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 전과횟수 변수는 Mf척도에서 유의한 차이가 발견되었다.
마지막으로, MMPI Profile의 13개 하위척도를 예언변수로 하여 연구대상군의 세부죄명(성범죄 유형)을 종속변수로 하여 판별분석을 실시한 결과, 전체적인 분류 정확도는 약 53% 정도로 나타났다. 좀 더 자세히 살펴보면, 세부죄명(성범죄 유형) 가운데 성폭력의 경우에는 판별율이 약 86%로 높은 반면에 강간(13.9%), 강도강간(20.8%) 및 특수강간(39.4%)의 경우에는 판별율이 낮게 나타났다.
본 연구는 성범죄자와 관련하여 성범죄집단 내에서의 세부적인 특성비교는 결여하고 있는 기존의 연구에서 대상을 성범죄자로 연구의 범위를 국한지어 구체화했다는 것과, MMPI로 성범죄자가 어떠한 성격특성을 갖고 있는가를 살펴보았다는 데에 의의가 있다. 이에 추후 연구에 있어서는 성범죄자들의 심리적 변인을 찾기 위한 더욱 다양하고 심도있는 시도가 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
