This study aimed to group for the desirable role of parents by examining that in the process of parents fostering their children what kind of effect their remarks that hurt their children could have on the formation of the life script of children.
The research questions for this study were set up such as 'How are the life dramas that college students are perceiving?' ,'What are the patterns of the life script that college students are perceiving?', and 'What had an effect on the life script decision of college students?'
For making a close investigation into the above study questions, this study involved the 48 students of the college of education in K university and after they answered the focus group interview, this study approached to resolve research questions through the analysis of the collected questionnaire. The summary of the result from these study questions was as follows.
First, among script patterns for the drama types that students answered, 'winning script' accounted for the most significant portion of all, followed by 'non-winning script', and therefore 'winning script' and 'non-winning script' took up the largest portion of all. On the basis of this result, it was suggested that the students who participated in the research set goals of life for themselves , exerted themselves to the utmost toward their goals, and fared well in their college life with a feeling of contentment in real life.
Second, through the content analysis of students' early decisions, it was showed that the patterns of the 'negative statute' which parents the most frequently used were in this order : 'Don't be a child.', 'Don't love: Don't trust.', 'Don't or Don't do that.', 'Don't be important.', 'Don't feel.', etc. Based on this research result, during rearing their children the ego-state that parents the most commonly used was 「Critical or Controlling Parent(CP)」, followed by「Nurturing Parent(NP)」.
Third, in the script pattern for the Time Structuring, 'until' script held the highest rate , followed 'never' script and 'over and over' script. The result indicated that the majority of college students reserved their happiness until they attained their goals.
In conclusion, on the basis of the above study result, it is clear that the Negative Statute which parents practice in the process of bringing their children up was the reflected result of a parent ego-state and children made their early decision with hearing about the Negative Statute of their parents. Therefore, the result shows that the early decision had an influence on the formation of the life script and brought about a certain specific script pattern and that sons and daughters have lived conforming to such formed script.
