손자녀를 양육하는 할머니의 심리적 체험연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 손자녀를 양육하는 할머니의 체험을 간접 체험함으로써 그들이 겪는 체험의 의미와 본질이 무엇인지를 이해하는데 있다.
본 연구에서는 일하는 자녀를 대신하여 영유아기의 손자녀를 12개월 이상 양육하고 있는 할머니들의 손자녀 양육의 체험의 의미를 이해하기 위해 Max van Manen의 해석학적 현상학의 연구방법을 적용하여 체험의 본질에 집중, 실존적 조사, 해석학적 현상학의 반성, 해석학적 현상학의 글쓰기로 구성된 총 10단계를 밟아 연구를 수행하였다.
본 연구의 참여자는 영유아기의 손자녀를 12개월 이상 양육하고 있는 13명의 할머니들로 그들에게서 2007년 3월부터 2007년 5월까지 심층면담과 그림, 시를 수집하였으며 면담자료는 자료가 포화될 때까지 얻어내었다. 연구 참여자들로부터의 자료수집뿐 아니라 문학작품 및 인터넷, 신문기사도 분석 시 참조하기 위해 수집하였다.연구 참여자들의 진술을 분석한 결과 여러 개의 주제들이 도출되었으며, 손자녀를 양육하는 과정을 자연스런 시간의 흐름에 따라 <내게로 떠맡겨진 손자녀의 양육>, <에너지 넘치는 손자녀로 인해 육체적으로 힘든 시간>, <초라해 보이는 나>, <새롭고 신기하고 신비스러운 손자녀의 커가는 모습>, <정신없이 키웠던 내 자식>, <딸보다 어려운 며느리>, <내가 이렇게 키워주는데 자식이 언젠가 보답하겠지>이라는 커다란 7개의 대주제 아래 각각 하위주제들로 본질적 주제를 범주화하였다.
수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 참여자들의 손자녀를 양육하는 체험의 본질적 주제는 다음과 같다.
<내게로 떠맡겨진 손자녀의 양육>
- 상황 때문에 받아들인 손자녀
- 나 없으면 모든 게 끝나버리는데
<에너지 넘치는 손자녀로 인해 육체적으로 힘든 시간>
-육체적으로 힘든 시간

<초라해 보이는 나>
-빼앗긴 나의 자유

위와 같이 도출해 낸 본질적 주제를 통해 나타난 손자녀를 양육하는 할머니의 심리적 체험의 의미와 본질을 다음과 같다.
첫째, 손자녀를 양육하는 체험은 할머니가 직장을 가진 자녀 또는 며느리를 대신하여 손자녀를 떠맡아 키우게 되는 경험이다.
둘째, 손자녀를 양육하는 체험은 육체적·심리적으로 힘든 경험이다.셋째, 손자녀를 양육하는 체험은 무료할 수 있는 노년의 삶에 재미와 즐거움을 주는 체험이다.넷째, 손자녀를 양육하는 체험은 할머니로 하여금 더 안정적인 노후생활을 마련해주는 체험이다.다섯째, 손자녀를 양육하는 체험은 가정과 사회에서의 중요한 존재감을 느끼게 하는 체험이다.위와 같은 본 연구의 결론이 아동상담의 현장에 어떤 기여를 할 수 있는지 살펴보면 다음과 같다.첫째, 본 연구는 손자녀를 양육하는 할머니가 양육과정에서 어떠한 심리적인 체험을 하는지에 대한 심층적인 연구를 통해 할머니·아동에 대한 이해를 증진시켰다.둘째, 본 연구는 상담분야에서 손자녀를 양육하는 할머니의 심리적 만족감을 증진시키기 위한 교육 자료가 될 수 있다.마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언은 다음과 같다.첫째, 본 연구는 손자녀를 양육하는 시기를 영유아기로 보고 이 시기에 손자녀를 양육한 할머니의 체험을 연구하였지만 후속 연구에서는 본 연구에서 다룬 영유아기를 시기별로 세분화하여 접근하는 연구가 이루어질 필요가 있겠다.둘째, 외손주와 친손주를 양육하는 체험을 세분화하여 각각의 경우에서 어떠한 체험들을 하는지 심도 깊은 연구가 이루어질 필요가 있겠다.셋째, 본 연구의 연구 참여자들은 사회적으로 중산층에 속한 분들로서 이들을 대상으로 한 본 연구결과가 사회경제적 지표가 낮은 할머니들에게도 적용될 수 있을지는 의문이다. 그러므로 이에 대한 후속 연구가 요망된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This qualitative research used a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to discover meaning in Psychological Experience of grandmother who care for a grandson. The goal of this study was to discover the essence of the experience of grandmother who care for a grandson.The study was guided by van Manen ' s method for doing research. The method of inquiry included : turning to phenomenon of interest ; inquiring and investigating experience as it was lived rather than as conceptualized ; reflecting and analyzing essential themes which characterize phenomenon ; and describing phenomenon through art of writing and rewriting. Multiple strategies for data collecting were needed : in depth face to face interview ; analysis of grandmother ' s writings and drawing ; artistic works ; and analysis of examples of phenomenon in art and literature. Although the experience was different for all of the grandmother interviewed, essential themes of experience emerged ;<The parenting of the grandchildren which is left responsible for me>

<the daughter-in-law who is going through tougher times than my daughter>-I should bear with it so that it wouldn't become a bigger problem-I feel sorry for the daughter-in-law who makes her living even apart from her kid, but I feel more pity for my daughter.<As I'm raising their kids like this, my child will someday return this favor.>-When I grow old and ill, children are the ones to lean for support.-The allowance money which I take fair and square by parenting the grandchildren
Based on these results, here are the points from the experience of an old woman who goes through the grandchildren parenting process.
First, the grandchildren parenting experience is an experience in which an old woman takes responsibility of raising the grandchildren instead of the working daughter or the daughter-in-law.Second, the grandchildren parenting experience is a physically and mentally tough experience.
Third, the grandchildren parenting experience is an experience that gives fun and joy to the old-age which might become boring.Fourth, the grandchildren parenting experience is an experience that arranges more secure old-age for the old woman.Fifth, the grandchildren parenting experience is an experience that gives a great feeling of self-existence both in home and society.
