As the improvement of information-oriented society, computer games are giving us negative effects than positive ones and triggering social reverse functions like threats to protecting the rights of the individual, the possibility on using informations to crimes and losing humanity. These phenomena appearing as shapes that are related with morals problems in each field of communications. Thus, establishing standards and worth of the information-oriented society is needed and the most important thing is educating right awareness on communication morals to students who did not establish their senses of values yet.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is searching the direction of educating communication morals by analyzing the present condition of junior high students' computer game addiction and seeking the relation between consciousness on communication morals in the realities of growing numbers of students who are using internet and addicted to computer games.
For this purpose, I set up research topics as follows : First, are there any differences in the actual conditions of using computers according to junior high students' basic variables?
Second, are there any differences to the degree of computer game addiction and consciousness on communication morals according to junior high students' basic variables?
Third, is junior high students' communication morals and computer game addiction related?
And fourth, which variable affects junior high students' computer game addiction most among factors of communication morals?
The subject of study was 636 students in junior high, Seoul and I used a questionnaire, 「The Relation between Junior High School Students' Consciousness on Communication Morals and Computer Game Addiction」that I wrote, as a measuring tool.
The results that I gained through this study are as follows :
First, the actual condition of using computers according to junior high students' basic variables is, male students do computer games more frequently and prefer violent games like on war or combative sports, but there was no differences of the degree of computer addiction and communication morals whether curriculums on computers are set up or not.
Second, it shows that there are meaningful differences in junior high students' communication morals according to their degree of satisfaction on their school year, relationship with their parents and teachers, the degrees of their parents' concerns about education, and how many hours/minutes they spent doing computer games in a day. And junior high students' computer game addiction has meaningful differences with their gender, the degree of satisfaction with their friends, the time when they started to play computer games, its frequency, and how many hours/minutes they spent.
Third, the degree of consciousness on communication morals and computer game addiction has negative meaningful mutual relation and also highly related with the degree of computer game addiction and details of communication morals such as respect, responsibility, justice and banning of mischiefs.
Fourth, responsibility and justice were the most effective fields among the details of communication morals to the degree of junior high students' computer game addiction.
Through these results, I found out there are considerable correlations on the degree of computer game addiction according to their state of consciousness on communication morals, so I suggest to strengthen teaching communication morals that are suited for each student's sexual differences and development levels in this present condition of computer game addiction problems getting worse and worse.
