It became very common to see an event in modern society. Public organizations or companies often use an event which is one of IMC means to induce positive evaluation of them or promote sales. A theme park makes most use of such an event and is most frequently used as a tourist resort for a day. In this study, a survey was conducted before admission to investigate public opinion of Everland and Lotte World, which are two of the local theme parks with the largest number of visitors, and performed comparative analysis of overall use satisfaction among those who had visited them for the past year. The results of the analysis showed that Lotte World got lower overall use satisfaction than Everland; the former got lower evaluation as compared with the past. This study intends to see if performing an event can help improve satisfaction with a theme park which got lower evaluation than before and to determine how valuable and influential an event is in inducing positive evaluation of a theme park.
The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of events held within Lotte World which got lower overall satisfaction on formation of overall use satisfaction and revisit intention which is post behavioral intention. To see if there was any difference in satisfaction with theme park events by users' general characteristics, such as gender and age, and by the presence of experience with the events, t-test and one-way ANOVA were carried out. Correlation analysis and regression analysis were also carried out to see relations between satisfaction with theme park events and overall use satisfaction and between overall use satisfaction and revisit intention.
First, there was no difference in satisfaction with theme park events between the group experiencing the events and that with no such experience; there was no difference in satisfaction with theme park events by users' general characteristics such as gender and age. That is, the degree of satisfaction with theme park events are not affected by such specific factors as the presence of experience with the events or users' general characteristics. Second, satisfaction with theme park events were significantly correlated with two constituents of overall use satisfaction, such as satisfaction with carrying out promise with customers and satisfaction with using the theme park (play facilities and events), than other constituents such as satisfaction with convenience of using the inner part of the park, satisfaction with accessibility, and satisfaction with price. Third, overall satisfaction with using a theme park was found to affect revisit intention. Of the five factors constituting overall use satisfaction, satisfaction with accessibility and satisfaction with price failed to affect revisit intention; the remaining three factors, such as satisfaction with convenience of using the inner part of the park, satisfaction with using the theme park (play facilities and events), and satisfaction with carrying out promise with customers, affected revisit intention.
This study demonstrated that theme park events affected visitors' overall satisfaction with using the theme park and that overall satisfaction with using the theme park affected revisit intention. This implies that theme park events take a very important position within a theme park. As a method to increase profit in operating a theme park in the future, holding an event with a small amount of costs will serve to get a higher investment-to-profit ratio than increasing facilities with tremendous costs.
