The purpose of this study was to examine what differences there might be between elementary schoolers broken and unbroken homes in the self-esteem and social skills in an effort to lay the foundation for providing better education in consideration of their circumstances. The subjects were 30 broken homes children (15 boys and 15 girls) and 30 unbroken homes children ( 15 boys and 15 girls) in Iksan city.
The statistical methods used for data analysis are Cronbach's α, mean, standard deviation, t-test.
The major findings of this study were as follows:
First, as a result of reviewing the children from broken homes took a negative attitude toward all self-esteem than the others from unbroken homes.
Second as a result of reviewing the children from broken homes took a negative attitude toward all social skills than the others from unbroken homes.
Third, gender difference in self-esteem and social skills of broken homes's children was not siginificant.
The findings of this study have a limitation to be generalized because of small sample size. Despite that limitation, these findings will be useful as basic data for education programs that can facilitate the development of more desirable peer relationships.
