    This study selected 16 subjects who perform extensive exercise under education and individual tuition of pilates among members of DZ fitness center located at Jeonju-city and 16 subjects who perform group exercise at similar age in order to examine whether pilates exercise which has been newly emerged is effective rehabilitation exercise affecting muscular strength and physical composition and results of this research for 8 weeks can be summarized as follows.
    1. After pilates exercise for 8 weeks
    o Raising upper body. Change in suspension by bending back upper body was increased in experimental group (p<.001).
    o Change in suspension in the state of raising upper body was increased in experimental group(p<.001) and control group(p<.05).
    2. In changes of skeletal muscles?fat amount of physical composition group after pilates exercise for 8 weeks,
    o Weight(p<.001) and body fat(p<.001) were decreased and skeletal structure and body fat(p<.05) were increased in experimental group.
    o Body fat (p<.01) was decreased and skeletal structure(p<.001) and body fat(p<.001) were increased in control group.
    3. In change of obesity diagnosis with physical composition group after pilates exercise for 8 weeks,
    o BMI(p<.01), body fat(p<.001) and abdominal fat(p<.01) were decreased in experimental group.
    o Body fat(p<.01) and abdominal fat (p<.01) were decreased in control group.
    4. In change of physical balance in physical composition group after pilates exercise for 8 weeks,
    o There was no statistically significant difference in both experimental and control groups.
    5. In change of edema index of physical composition group after pilates exercise for 8 weeks,
    o It was decreased in control group(p<.01).
    6. In change of intestinal fat index in physical composition group after pilates exercise for 8 weeks,
    o It was decreased in experimental group(p<.05).
    7. In change of muscular strength by experimental and control groups,
    o Raising upper body(p<.01), suspension after raising upper body(p<.001) and suspension after bending back upper body(p<.001) were increased.
    8. In change of obesity diagnosis by experimental and control groups,
    o It was decreased in BMI(p<.01) and body fat(p<.01).
    9. In change of edema and visceral fat indices by experimental and control groups,
    o It was decreased in visceral index(p<.05).
    In conclusion, it was found that pilates exercise for 8 weeks was effective in muscular strength and physical composition related to lumbar.
    In addition, considering that training group applying extensive training program had a great influence on muscular strength and physical composition, it could be confirmed that coaching method really played important roles even in the same exercise.
