This study has found out the ways to ensure the human rights and privilege of elders in eldercare facilities by researching the satisfaction with life index of the elders in facilities and explored the ways to elevate the satisfaction with life index. The research has examined and analyzed survey results, which its subject were 200 elders who can answer the questions in eldercare facilities of DaeGu. Below are the results.
First, in the case of satisfaction with facility index and satisfaction with life index, in the satisfaction with the facility index sector level of daily life service and facility environment service were highest, while in satisfaction with life index present was highest, and lowest in positive future life expectations.
Second, as for satisfaction with facility index, satisfaction index was highest when the reason for entering eldercare facility was for relaxing last days. Satisfaction with facility index concerning health condition was high when subjective health condition was satisfactory and objective health condition was good, while concerning social relations, satisfaction with facility index was high when family or relative visits once a month rather than rarely. In satisfaction with life index, satisfaction was higher when bereaved of one's spouse compared to one with spouse, and was highest when they have stayed in the facility for one to three years.
Third, the effect of satisfaction with facility index prerequisite on satisfaction with life index was that the more satisfactory the medical service was, the higher the positive attitude towards present life.
Therefore the advisable managing program to elevate satisfaction with life index of elders in eldercare facility is as follows. First, eldercare facility is a place where elders spend their life, so the government should promote the quality of daily life service and facility environment service through appropriate managing, supervising and support. Second, the effort to change the perception on eldercare facilities is needed. When people perceive eldercare facilities more positively, it will be helpful for elders to keep the social relationship steady even after going into the facility. Third, for elders who stay in eldercare facilities for a long term, not just simple housing and protection but facility service that ensures the rights and decision of the elders is needed. Last, medical service is a significant factor in deciding the satisfaction with life index, so plans for provision of good quality medical service are needed.
