구조화된 집단놀이활동이 시설아동의 사회적 기술에 미치는 효과

The purpose of this study was to examine whether structured group play activities improved social abilities of children in an welfare institute. The sbjects were 4 children, who were reported to have difficulty in relation with their friends and obtained lower than 25T in the measurement of social abilities by using Social Skill Rating System - Teacher Form Elementary Level (SSRS). The questions of the study were to understand whether structured group play activities had an effect on the improvement of social abilities of children in an welfare institute and how their behaviors changed. The program was conducted focusing on motivation, re-experience among the therapeutic elements of play session, referring to group formation suggested for school-aged children. It was twice in a week, total 10 times, and the session consisted of relaxing activities (15 minutes), structured activities (20 minutes), discussion (10 minutes) and free play (15 minutes). The changes of social abilities were compared by pre·post SSRS, and free play was filmed in each session (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th) to observe their social abilities.
The results of the study were as follows:
First, the result showed that structured group play activities improved children's social abilities, which measured by teacher's rating, in other places apart from classroom.
Second, structured group play activities promoted self-assertion, cooperation, self-control, which were the subordinate items of social abilities in free play during the execution of the program.
Accordingly, although the study has a limitation as a minor case research, structured group play activities had an effect on the improvement of social abilities of children in an welfare institute.
