The purpose of this study is to analyze the worker's leadership in the early childhood educational institutions and to clarify the desirable worker's leadership model for the effective conduct of educational purpose.
The analysis tool for perception gap on workers leadership between job levels in the early childhood educational institutions was based on the '4RL Based Leadership Description Questionnaire for the Early Childhood Educational Institutions' which Lee So Hee, Kang Kyung Ja, Kim Ju A(2004) developed. we interviewed with focus group to analyze worker's in-depth leadership in the early childhood educational institutions.
By the means of questionnaire inquiry, we obtained data for this study from the early childhood institutions in Seoul, Kyunggi Province and Statistical Package to Social Sciences(SPSS) 12.0 was used to analyze the collected data.
The result of this study can be summarized as follows:
First, in examining the gap of the worker's leadership in the early childhood educational institutions, it showed meaningful perception differences in middle management and ordinary teachers. In view of relationship among each sub-factors, middle management more highly perceived middle management's leadership itself than ordinary teachers.
Second, in examining the gap of worker's leadership perception by their background, it showed meaningful differences statistically. As the result of the statistical analysis, middle management working in day nursery more highly recognized leadership than middle management working in kindergarten and middle management and ordinary teachers graduated university more highly recognized leadership than middle management and ordinary teachers graduated college. middle management over 30 years of age more highly recognized leadership than middle management under 29 years of age and middle management over 6 years experiences more highly recognized leadership than middle management under 5 years experiences.
Third, in examining worker's in-depth leadership in the early childhood educational institutions, in pathfinding, sub-factors of leadership vice-principals, middle management recognized that worker's in the early childhood educational institutions need effective leadership which is important to build confidence with parents, while ordinary teachers recognized that effective leadership is needed in only managing their classes.
