The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of workers' job satisfaction on their mental health and union commitment, and to explore how of their job related attitudes influence on their general job satisfaction, mental health, and union commitment.
The subjects of this research are 433 workers who are working for "N" corporation which is a large scal circulation corporation in Korea and located in the region of Seoul and Gyeonggi-do("N" corporation has the branch shop in Kangnam, Gwacheon, Gwangmyeong, East-suwon, Sanbon, Yatap, Incheon, Ilsan, Pyongchon 1, Pyongchon 2, Pyeongtaek).
The major results of this research are as follows;
First, those who are dissatisfied with their job have had the significant symptoms of mental health, and especially they showed the more symptoms of Somatization, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive than the other mental health symptoms(Psychoticism, Paranoid Ideation, Phonic Anxiety).
Second, those who are dissatisfied with their job the more commitment about the labor union. Those who are dissatisfied with wage level, promotion system, and are satisfied with peer relation showed the higher union commitment.
Third, those who showed the higher union commitment are more satisfied with their union policies and practices.
This research showed that the relationships between the job satisfaction and union activity satisfaction are a dual satisfaction - workers tends to be satisfied with the union activity, as they feel more satisfied with their jobs.
Those who respond more satisfaction with their present living reported less mental health symptoms.
Those who showed higher union commitment were more willing to struggle for their rights. And those who respond the more struggle spirits, the need for union and union activity satisfaction showed higher union commitment.
